Tennis player being optimistic about her fight with cancer

New York- Carla Suarez Navarro has been diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma and that was why she opted out of competing in the US Open.

Last month, Navarro said that she was not going to play in the US Open because she had some health issues that she was taking care of. However, after Suarez had gotten her test results back on Tuesday, she found out that she has cancer and announced the news on her social media. "It's time for me to face a complicated reality. It's time to accept it and try to move forward, trusting in my medical advice. Always facing adversity with positivity."

Navarro is ranked No: 71 in the world, has won two WTA singles titles in 2016 and 2014, and reached a career-high ranking of No. 6 in February 2016. Before the 2020 season had started, Navaro had stated this year was going to be last.

Some of the tennis greats had reached out to her and offered her an encouraging message. "Carla, you are such a fighter and I have no doubt you'll get through this," Novak Djokovic wrote on Twitter. "Stay positive and come back soon."
