On Thursday, the Boston Red Sox got back over the .500 mark, defeating the Texas Rangers 5-0 to win the series. Alex Bregman batted .333 in the series and powdered his 200th career home run over the Green Monster on Wednesday. Bregman’s home run not only provided the spark the Sox offense needed, but was one of three hits on the evening for Bregman. In a season that has been inconsistent up to this point, Bregman has been one of the few bright spots for this Red Sox ball club.

Bregman signed a three-year, $120 million contract with the Red Sox this past offseason, after nine years with Houston. While he’s not the typical size of a major league third baseman—Bregman stands 5’10”—he has held his own in his career. Providing pop at the top of the lineup throughout his career.

Bregman has averaged 21 home runs per season and never struck out 100 times in a season in his career in Houston. The Red Sox aggressively pursued the two-time all star, signing him to a lucrative contract this past offseason with hopes that the veteran can help them get back to the playoffs for the first time since 2021.

The change of scenery clearly made a positive impact on Bregman to start the season. Bregman is currently slashing .318/.392/.596 to start the season, and leads all third baseman in XBH (24), OPS (.988), and doubles (15). He has also been on a tear recently. Bregman is slashing .379/.463/.776, while reaching base safely in fourteen of his last fifteen games.

The 31-year-old is revitalizing his career in Beantown. Bregman looks to make his first all-star appearance since 2019. At this pace, he is going to be an American League starter at the hot corner. Bregman, who was at first making headlines on what position he would be as a Red Sox, now he is making headlines for his play on the field.
