Brian Flores has been surprisingly fired after the last game of the 2021 regular season just three years after being hired there. His overall 24-25 record isn't indicative of his tenure there. The Dolphins were fringe playoff teams the last two years finishing 10-6 last year and 9-8 this year.
The firing comes after a historic season for the Dolphins, but not in the way some had hoped inside the organization. The 2021 Dolphins were the first team in NFL history to have a 7-game winning streak and a 7-game losing streak in the same season. Add this tumultuous season with the reports inside the organization of uncertainty behind second year QB Tua Tagovailoa, and the team's recent success isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Even still, this move comes as the most shocking coach firing in a number of years, based off the respect the team still has for Flores, and the success of the team particularly on the defensive side of the ball.
Flores, the ex-Patriots DC finds himself as one of the most coveted Free Agent coaches on the market heading into the 2022 NFL season, but is there a reunion in order? Is it possible Flores return to the Patriots? Or could he make a splash as the new HC of another franchise such as the Raiders, Jaguars or Bears?
