After the Boston College Hockey season was finally ended by UConn on Friday, most of us knew their star player would be signed soon and on Monday the Bruins made it official.

James Hagens was the Bruins top 2025 draft pick at #7 overall. A 19-year old, 5'11" Center who shoots from his left and was a sniper at BC, Hagens will join the great group of young forwards in Providence as one of the Bruins' top prospects.
Hagens has officially been invited for an ATO, (AHL amateur tryout agreement) for later tonight, Tuesday the 24th. Bruins General Manager stated in an interview with NHL.com, "We're very excited to have James join the Bruins organization and take this next step. James is an important part of our future, and this is a great opportunity for him to get immediate experience at the professional level in Providence and continue his development, while keeping all options open."
If everything goes well, the 19-year old could see AHL-action as early as the P-Bruins' games on the 28th or 29th.
Hagens was Boston College's top scorer in goals and assists, he would score 24 goals alone in 2025/26 including 6 game winners. He also spent time on the IHF World Junior Championship team and won Gold in 2025. His time on the U-18 Men's World Championship team in 2024 was the thing of legends, where he set a record with 22 points, won MVP and helped the United States to silver.
Hagens came with a top-billing when he was drafted at #7 and has done nothing but prove the Bruins right for doing so. His scoring potential from such a young age has the organization believing he is the future of the Bruins and now, the present in Providence.
