Reports have came out today 6/3/2025 that Patriots Linebacker Jahlani Tavai was injured at Voluntary OTAs. Adam Schefter reported that the injury was to Tavai's calf and is expected to keep him out until Training Camp which starts in 6 weeks.

Schefter has also noted that Tavai could not put any pressure on the leg and was helped off the field after his injury. The original report has indicated this will not be the end of Tavai's season.
Tavai is preparing for his 5th year in New England and his 3rd year starting at Mike Linebacker after his first two years had been the best of his career. Tavai's previous 2 seasons had combined for 225 Tackles, 12 TFLs, 2 Sacks, 3 Interceptions and 10 Pass Deflections.
The looming presence of new Free Agent signing Robert Spillane could push Tavai to the #2 MLB on the team in a system where the Patriots tend to rotate the Top-3 of the position in their 3-4, 2-starting MLB technique.
Still, Tavai is expected to be back soon and make a strong presence on the team. One can only hope this injury doesn't linger or stop Tavai from starting his season in a way that will propel him to the recent successes he's had over the past two years.
