VCU VS NEW MEXICO

Wednesday night, the New Mexico Lobos traveled across the country looking to extend their five-game winning streak to six in a matchup against the VCU Rams, who have won four of their last five. The Lobos are hopping on a flight back home happy after a gritty 81-78 win over VCU.
The first half was action-packed, as the game stayed within single digits throughout the half as the teams traded blows offensively. At the end of the first half, VCU led 46-41, sustaining their lead by scoring in the paint and converting at the free throw line.
It was more of the same to start the second half until the Lobos captured the lead with 11:59 left. They would go on a 12-0 run to secure the first double digit lead of the game.
VCU would go on their own 9-0 run to tie the game at 75 with 4:44 left, but the Lobos were too much for them down the stretch. Freshman guard Jake Hall dropped his 24 points in the victory. The Carlsbad, California native has now scored 20+ points in three of his last four contests.
The Lobos closed the game on a 6-3 run, which led to the Lobos outlasting the Rams, and handing them their first home loss of the season.
Key to Victory: Shooting Efficiency
In all shooting statistics, the Lobos had higher percentages, which led to them taking a commanding lead in the second half, and matching VCU’s scoring run down the stretch.
Next for the Lobos: Sunday, December 14 at 4 PM EST
Next for the Rams: Monday, December 15 vs Niagara at 7PM EST
COLGATE VS ST. BONAVENTURE

The St. Bonaventure Bonnies looked to get off to their second consecutive 10-1 start to the season against the Colgate Raiders, who have won four straight after their 2-4 start to the season. The Bonnies came back from a double-digit deficit to defeat the Raiders 85-77.
After a back and forth first seven minutes of the first half, Colgate would grab the lead at the 13:08 mark, and would not let go for the remainder of the first half. They would take a 14 point lead into halftime. Freshman forward Andrew Alekseyenko powered the Raider offense, scoring 16 of his 25 points in the first half.
In the second half, it was apparent that the Bonnies made some adjustments in the locker room at halftime. St. Bonaventure would go on a 15-4 to start the half to make it a one possession game.
Once the Bonnies took the lead with 7:49 left, they would not look back. They would lead as much as ten in the second half, and cruise to victory on their home floor. Senior forward Frank Mitchell continued his sizzling start to the season, grabbing a season-high 18 rebounds and recording his fifth straight double-double.
Fellow senior Cayden Charles also chipped in. The Kennesae, Georgia native recorded his second double-double of the season in the victory. The Bonnies now have sole possession of first place in the Atlantic 10 conference.
Key to Victory: Winning by Committee
While Charles and Mitchell were the main contributors for the Bonnies, others also stepped up. Four out of five starters in the Bonnie lineup had over 15 points in the Bonnie's comeback victory.
