Conference Championships for next weekend are:
NFC Championship: 49ers @ Eagles on January 29th @ 3:00 pm EST from Lincoln Financial Field
AFC Championship: Bengals @ Chiefs on January 29th @ 6:30 pm EST from Arrowhead Stadium
The #1 AFC Chiefs, #3 AFC Bengals, #1 NFC Eagles and #2 NFC 49ers are set as the semi finals for the 2023 NFL season. In the AFC, possibly the two best passing teams will face off, while the two best rushing teams will meet for the NFC crown.
The odds for each team to win the Super Bowl are as follows:
Chiefs +260
Eagles +260
Bengals +275
49ers +320
Chiefs:
The Chiefs grabbed the #1 seed with a 14-3 record and defeated the Jaguars 27-20 in the divisional round. The Chiefs playoff win wouldn't come without cost however, as Patrick Mahomes would injure his ankle and would be noticeably limping off the field afterwards.
In Mahomes 5th season as a starter he will be going to his 5th AFC Championship game. The Chiefs are tied as the favorites to win the Super Bowl but must face off against a very talented Bengals group that beat them in the regular season this year as well as last year's AFC Championship.
Bengals:
Has there been a team that has performed better in the AFC playoffs in the last couple of years? Zac Taylor, Joe Burrow and company are now 5-0 in AFC playoffs with a +37 point differential.
The Bengals are not only healthy, but have made major improvements this season on defense and in their offensive line. Their dismantling of the preseason Super Bowl favorite Bills was shocking to say the least, and for a second year in a row, are firing on all cylinders heading into their 2nd AFC Championship in a row.
Eagles:
The Eagles get the award for best performance in the Divisional round of the playoffs with a 38-7 victory over the Giants. The Birds ran for 268 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Giants while controlling 36 minutes of the clock and committing zero turnovers. Their victory was almost flawless against a divisional rival but will face a much greater task next week.
The Eagles certainly have a roster built to beat anyone right now, with their combination of their rushing game including possibly the best RPO scheme we've ever seen in the NFL. Their defense has done a great job over the last couple weeks but will face off against the most dynamic offense so far this year in the niners.
49ers:
Brock Purdy. This 23-year old will be the youngest QB ever to make it to a Super Bowl if the 49ers win on Sunday. The 49ers are on a 12-game winning streak including the playoffs and have only given up 25+ points once in that span. Their rushing attack is the only comparable option with the Eagles and the rookie Purdy has been poised and consistent.
The 49ers defense and methodical tempo may be the keys to win against a very skilled Eagles roster. Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers coaching staff is elite also and gives this young roster a huge experience boost.
Zak's Predictions:
Chiefs 24 - Bengals 20
Eagles 21 - 49ers 27
49ers vs Chiefs in Super Bowl 57 in Glendale, Arizona.
