Team Overview

The Broncos were the team I think EVERYONE underrated last year and I have done a complete 180. These 2025 Broncos are a team that I can see, maybe not being real Super Bowl contenders but being juuuuuuust outside of that tier.
It all starts with coaching and Sean Payton proved last year that even after his long tenure away from the game and his rough first season with Russell Wilson, that he's still got it. Payton's ability to take a group of players and make them all perform to the absolute best of their ability is among the best in the league and it showed last season with a 10-7 record and a playoff game.
The Broncos' defense was a Top-6 unit in the league last year and then went out and got so much better this offseason. My pick for the #1 defense in 2025, they went out and signed Pro Bowlers Dre Greenlaw and Talanoa Hufanga. They would also draft DB Jahdae Barron in the first round; a selection they didn't need at all but will make their secondary ELITE by pairing the reigning DPOY Pat Surtain with Barron who could become the best Nickel in the league in a very short time.
So can the Broncos repeat their success in 2025 and can they even do better and make some noise in the Playoffs? Will the 2025 Broncos have the best defense in the league? Can Bo Nix continue his improbable success and take another leap as the Broncos' QB? Lets find out as we go through the Broncos' 2025 schedule, game-by-game.

Week 1: vs Titans
I feel really bad for Cam Ward having to start his NFL career against the Broncos' defense. The Titans don't have much of a chance here especially in Mile High Stadium and will set the tone for the rest of the Broncos' season.
Prediction: Broncos 23-10

Week 2: @ Colts
Traveling to Indy could pose somewhat of a tough game but it'll be more of the same as poor QB play could make this a cakewalk for Denver. I'm expecting several turnovers from the Colts to give the Broncos even more points after their offense struggles somewhat against a decent Colts' defense.
Prediction: Broncos 27-17

Week 3: @ Chargers
AFC West opener here and the Broncos have to travel to LA for it a matchup I'm VERY interested in this year. The Chargers have seemingly built their roster around trying to stop the Broncos and as long as Herbert can hold on to the football, they do exactly that here.
Prediction: Chargers 21-19

Week 4: vs Bengals (MNF)
One of the best defenses in the league vs one of the best offenses in the league on Monday night. The home field advantage for Denver is always a plus and the fact that the Bengals may also have one of the worst defenses in the league has to give this one to the Broncos even though this one may see some FIREWORKS.
Prediction: Broncos 28-21

Week 5: @ Eagles
This is a huge game between two of the best defenses in the league. The reigning champs will be at home but could really hit a wall against the Broncos' D. With both teams trying to pound the rock down the throats of their opponent, the Eagles superior run game will play a huge part in the champs barely leaving this one with a W.
Prediction: Eagles 16-14

Week 6: vs Jets (NFL Europe Game)
This will be the first international game for the Broncos in 3 seasons and the Jets second in as many years. The travel will negate any advantage either team has which just leaves it down to both teams' stingy defenses. As much as the Broncos' team should be better, the Jets acclimation to Europe and the potential of Justin Fields gives me vibes of a Jets win.
Prediction: Jets 17-13

Week 7: vs Giants
I have mentioned how high my expectations are for the Giants this season but their offense will drag them down. Back at home and game planning solely for Malik Nabers, the Broncos should make this low-scoring affair look easy.
Prediction: Broncos 21-7
___________________________________
Week 8: vs Cowboys
Riding high at 5-2, the Cowboys will be a good test for the Broncos but as seen several times already, Sean Payton's coaching advantage will show. With the Cowboys turning the ball over more frequently, I expect the Broncos to take full advantage and distance themselves late in this game.
Prediction: Broncos 21-10
___________________________________
Week 9: @ Texans
The downfall of the Texans is one of the Broncos' strength and that's pass rush. If the Texans' O-line doesn't have the best game of their season, the Broncos won't give Stroud enough time to do much and lose because of it.
Prediction: Broncos 17-10
___________________________________
Week 10: vs Raiders (TNF)
A short notice week and a travel to Mile High is a daunting task for anyone much less the expected worst team of the AFC West. If Denver can hold Jeanty to even an average game, the Raiders won't be able to do much to compete in this one.
Prediction: Broncos 24-7
___________________________________
Week 11: vs Chiefs
The matchup we're all waiting for as the Broncos (7-3) and Chiefs (6-3) will likely be battling for the division title for the rest of the year. Even though this one is in Denver, the Chiefs will be coming off a BYE Week and will be almost impossible to beat with an extra week of prep and rest.
Prediction: Chiefs 28-20

Week 12: BYE Week
Sitting at 7-4 and barely behind the Chiefs for the division-lead, the Broncos season is going exactly to plan. The defense has lived up to it's billing as one of the best in the league and the home games have been dominant so far. The offense has struggled a bit in Bo Nix's second year which is to be expected. If the team wants to turn from good to elite though, they will need him to step up.
___________________________________
Week 13: @ Commanders (SNF)
After the long week of rest, the Broncos will be tasked to stop the dynamic offense in Washington led by Jayden Daniels. In primetime, as much as I don't love Daniels this season, I do like him to outduel Bo Nix who still hasn't taken that step toward greatness and I believe Daniels has a winning TD very late in this one.
Prediction: Commanders 28-23
___________________________________
Week 14: @ Raiders
After a 2-game losing streak, this divisional road trip will be even more crucial to both teams. The Broncos will dig deep as the game comes down to the wire and I believe a late-game pick from Geno Smith could be the fatal mistake the Broncos' D again capitalizes on.
Prediction: Broncos 21-17
___________________________________
Week 15: vs Packers
Back at home after 3 weeks, the Packers come to town and are likely still not completely healthy on offense. With a gaggle of good but not great receivers to deal with, players like Jahdae Barron and Talanoa Hufanga will be really coming into their own and take this game over.
Prediction: Broncos 20-10
___________________________________
Week 16: vs Jaguars
The Jaguars identity this season will be chucking the football and that is exactly the trap Denver wants to put you in. Travis Hunter vs Jahdae Barron is a dream matchup and Pat Surtain will have his hands full with BTJ. Ultimately, both defense should be problematic here but I trust Sean Payton at the end of the day and at the end of games more than Coen in his rookie year of Head Coaching.
Prediction: Broncos 21-20
___________________________________
Week 17: @ Chiefs (TNF)
On a 3-game winning streak and 2 games behind the Chiefs, this short notice game will be the Broncos last gasp for competing for their division. In true Thursday night fashion, anything can happen and I believe the stinginess of the Broncos defense after all the momentum they've gained over the past 3 weeks to hold the Chiefs just enough to escape with a HUGE win.
Prediction: Broncos 17-10
___________________________________
Week 18: vs Chargers (TBD)
This is it. After last week's upset, the Broncos need a win and the Chiefs to lose and they win their division. Sadly, before this game the Chiefs already beat the Raiders but the Broncos still have so much momentum and emotion that losing at home was never in the cards.
Prediction: Broncos 31-24
___________________________________

The Broncos finish this exercise with a 12-5 record including an 8-1 record at home and a 4-2 record in the AFC West.
The jump from Payton's 2nd to 3rd season coaching Denver has shown the true prowess of his coaching and especially the defense he and GM George Paton has built. Leading the league in points allowed, the defense was incredible and benefited from players like Jahdae Barron having breakout seasons, (Barron is my pick for DROY).
The Broncos won't have home field advantage in the playoffs and will likely have to go to Houston for their playoff game. Already picking them i Houston earlier this season I like their chances until they face off against one of the 3 AFC Titans in the divisional round. The Broncos are VERY good, but their offensive shortcomings will cause them to exit there. If Bo Nix can take a step or they are able to add some more playmakers this offseason, look out for this team in 2026.
