Team Overview

Coming up short on the first 3-peat in NFL history, the Chiefs would actually do a great job this offseason. Naturally, they would lose several key players including their All-Pro level Guard Joe Thuney by a trade and Pro Bowl Safety Justin Reid, starting DT Derrick Nnadi and one-year rental WR DeAndre Hopkins in Free Agency. After constructing their roster for this very year, these losses are very minimal to what other teams have experienced in the past.
The Chiefs would also do a great job in the draft and Free Agency, bringing in free agents like OT Jaylen Moore, DBs Jeremy Chinn and Kristian Fulton and WR Juju Smith-Schuster. They would also draft highly-touted OT Josh Simmons and DT Omar Norman-Lott and some very intriguing late round picks like WR Jalen Royals.
The Chiefs may have actually gotten better this offseason and that's a seriously scary thought. After a 15-2 season, they won't likely improve on that but a major dip in wins is likely out of the question as well.

Week 1: @ Chargers
The Chiefs will start their season with another tough season opener against the Chargers. The Chargers style under Jim Harbaugh has been a tough, run-heavy offense and a big imposing defense. What the Chargers lack however is a good secondary and the Chiefs will be able to exploit that for the win.
Prediction: Chiefs 24-17

Week 2: vs Eagles
A Super Bowl rematch and luckily for the Chiefs, the defending champs lost a lot more this offseason. The Chiefs can really take advantage of a softer defense in Philly and get revenge for the 3-peat that never happened.
Prediction: Chiefs 27-24

Week 3: @ Giants (SNF)
The Giants did a great job improving their secondary this offseason but the Chiefs defense is still superior. A low-scoring but distant battle will easily have the Chiefs on top.
Prediction: Chiefs 24-13

Week 4: vs Ravens
Another super tough opponent at home, maybe last year's "The Chiefs have rigged the system" wasn't all smoke and mirrors? Nonetheless the Ravens will be looking for revenge too and on paper, finally have the Chiefs' number when it comes to rosters. it's very hard to imagine the Chiefs losing at home but if any team could pull it off...
Prediction: Ravens 31-23

Week 5: @ Jaguars (MNF)
The Jags have a pretty new roster this year and with a new offensive head coach. The travel for the Chiefs will make this a close one but they should come out on top nonetheless.
Prediction: Chiefs 28-24

Week 6: vs Lions (SNF)
One of my favorite matchups of the year, two of the best defenses from last season square off on Sunday Night Football. Fortunately for the Chiefs, the game is at home and the Lions will take a step down from last year after losing both OC and DC.
Prediction: Chiefs 27-21

Week 7: vs Raiders
A second-of-three game home stand in Kansas City and between the Liona snd Commanders, even a divisional rivalry won't help the Raiders. Pete Carroll and his tricks could make this a low-scoring affair but not one that will do him any good.
Prediction: Chiefs 21-10

Week 8: vs Commanders (MNF)
In another Monday Night Football game, (4th primetime game in 6 weeks) the Chiefs will again have a tough game in the comfort of their own stadium. The Commanders may not be as good this season as last but this is a game they will definitely show up for. With a very talented offense ran by one of the best OCs in the game, I can smell an upset on Monday Night Football here.
Prediction: Commanders 31-26
___________________________________
Week 9: @ Bills
Probably the toughest test for the Chiefs on paper, a trip up to Buffalo to meet the other Kings of the AFC. The Chiefs don't often frequent Buffalo, (only 2 of the teams' previous 8 encounters) and with the nature of this rivalry being one of two titans trading haymakers until one outlasts the other, this game can truly go either way. I'll take home field advantage but only barely.
Prediction: Bills 24-21
___________________________________
Week 10: BYE Week
After 2 straight losses, the Chiefs need this BYE Week to regather themselves for the road ahead. After a favorable 1st half in terms of home and road games, two key road games will be coming at them in the next three weeks. 4 of their final divisional games will also be in the works and the Chiefs can't take any more losses if they want a First Round BYE in the playoffs again.
___________________________________
Week 11: @ Broncos
The Broncos took a massive leap in Sean Payton's second year as head coach and did an even better job this offseason with Free Agent and Draft additions. Unfortunately for them, the week after a BYE for the Chiefs means this game, (even in Mile-High) will be almost impossible to win.
Prediction: Chiefs 28-20
___________________________________
Week 12: vs Colts
As already stated in my Colts article, the Colts are 2-0 against the Chiefs in the Mahomes era but with the Colts' QB room looking only a half season away from being completely blown up, the Chiefs should have an easy, low-scoring win here.
Prediction: Chiefs 28-17
___________________________________
Week 13: @ Cowboys
As biased as it might be to say, this could be the matchup of the two-most hated teams in the NFL. The Cowboys seem to be on the verge of a rebuild and their defense needs it most. A higher-scoring game may be the best way for "America's Team" to win but they won't be able to outduel the Chiefs.
Prediction: Chiefs 31-27
___________________________________
Week 14: vs Texans (SNF)
Another great AFC matchup on primetime and Guess What? The Chiefs are at home again. The Texans should be over the sophomore slump of last year and a really good team but questions remain about their offensive line. Without assurady in their protection and run game, game-planning for the Chiefs should give them the edge.
Prediction: Chiefs 23-16
___________________________________
Week 15: vs Chargers
I like the Chargers a lot this year but their secondary cost them in the two teams' opener and it will cost them again, this time in Kansas City. Two of the best-coached teams will have a back-and-forth battle that should make for a very exciting 4th quarter.
Prediction: Chiefs 21-17
___________________________________
Week 16: @ Titans
The Chiefs are well on their way to a #1 seed at an 11-3 record and a 5-game win streak. Let's make that one 6 as they bully a weak Tennessee roster getting ready for another Top-5 pick in next year's draft.
Prediction: Chiefs 31-14
___________________________________
Week 17: vs Broncos (TNF)
Anything can happen on Thursday Night right? With both teams playing for playoff implications and their previous meeting happening after a Chiefs BYE, I'll take the upset as Payton's Broncos exact revenge in this defensive war.
Prediction: Broncos 17-10
___________________________________
Week 18: @ Raiders (TBD)
Sitting at 12-4, it's unclear whether the #1 seed will still be available with how good the Ravens and Bills could be. If the top spot isn't there the Chiefs will rest their starters but if there is a chance, you know they will go into Las Vegas looking to smother their divisional foe. Either way, there's a good chance they'll beat a deleting Raiders roster.
Prediction: Chiefs 26-14
___________________________________

The defending AFC Champions leave this exercise with a 13-4 record, including a 5-1 dominance of the AFC West and a 6-3 record at Aarowhead.
Losses to prominent playoff teams like the Bills, Ravens and Broncos could be worrisome for the team heading into the playoffs. I'm assuming the 13-4 record will be out done by the Ravens and land the Chiefs at either the 2nd or 3rd seed meaning a 3rd date with the Broncos could loom in Wild Card weekend.
Even so, the Chiefs are the most experienced team in the entire NFL today and they're ability to turn it up in the playoffs is well-documented.
This team is a battle-tested and smart club that puts an emphasis on dominating both lines of scrimmage while winning the turnover battle. Can they get back to a record-tying 4th straight Super Bowl? I think It'll either be them or the Ravens finally breaking through their Championship barrier.
