Team Overview

"BOOOOO!", "Cowboys Suck!", "Say The Line."...

Cowboys slander is almost a part of American sports culture at this point but haters are usually bred from success and there's not debating this is one of the most successful franchises in NFL History. Even in there previous 30+ years of not winning any titles, they are consistently winning 10 games a year and putting up crazy stats.

With that being said, their recent roster building and hiring of offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer as head coach has been very questionable. This offseason, the Cowboys were restrained by salary to not signing many new players.

Historically, the Cowboys identity has been to dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. With new draftees Guard Tyler Booker and RB Jaydon Blue expected to make big roles on offense and high-value new trade WR George Pickens added, the offense should really be clicking this year. On the other side of the ball though... the Cowboys are heavily dependent on Trevon Diggs and Daron Bland playing at an All-Pro level or else they'll be turn tables all year.

Week 1: @ Eagles (TNF)

As I already stated in my eagles predictions, this is a very difficult one for the Cowboys. In a Super Bowl ceremony game in Philadelphia, the Eagles will be damn near impossible to stop.

Prediction: Eagles 28-17

Week 2: vs Giants

The 'boys first home game will be against the G-men in their back-to-back divisional start to the year. The Giants' defense is much better this season and will make this game a tight one, but Dak and company will be too strong for a still rebuilding Giants.

Prediction: Cowboys 24-20

Week 3: @ Bears

In a battle of two powerhouse NFC teams with new head coaches, the stacked roster of Chicago may be too much for the Cowboys. The secondary will do a decent job against the scary Bears' passing game but in the end they'll come up just short.

Prediction: Bears 31-27

___________________________________

Week 4: vs Packers (SNF)

The first primetime of the season for them and they will have the Packers coming to town. Another team with a dangerous pass game and a very well-rounded roster, the one weakness could be the run game where the Cowboys will capitalize.

Prediction: Cowboys 23-21

___________________________________

Week 5: @ Jets

I'm a big fan of the Jets' new coaching and there importance to the O-line. I believe Justin Fields will be able to make plays and keep this one close, but it's the Jets and I can only see a Cowboys' dub in this one.

Prediction: Cowboys 30-24

___________________________________

Week 6: @ Panthers

Bryce Young may have a great season and continue his progression but the Cowboys' defense isn't the right matchup. As long as Dak doesn't turn the ball over often this one has potential to actually get out of hand.

Prediction: Cowboys 35-17

___________________________________

Week 7: vs Commanders

I truly believe the Cowboys roster is one of the most underrated and I definitely believe the Commanders' roster is one of the most overrated. Jayden Daniels has the potential to pop off for sure, but if he doesn't go crazy I'll take the home field advantage in this one.

Prediction: Cowboys 27-24

___________________________________

Week 8: @ Broncos

If you've read my previous team predictions, you should know by now how highly I praise the Broncos defense. As long as they're healthy, with the matchup between these two I can't see the Cowboys doing anything especially in Denver.

Prediction: Broncos 21-10

___________________________________

Week 9: vs Cardinals (MNF)

Monday Night and the Cowboys have the Cardinals at home. The Cardinals also have a supremely underrated roster and head coach this season. If Maserati Marv makes the jump I expect him to this year, that could be the deciding factor in a primetime shootout.

Prediction: Cardinals 38-34

___________________________________

Week 10: BYE Week

The Cowboys sit at 5-4 in their BYE Week in the midst of a 2-game losing streak. Their offense has been solid all year, averaging over 25 points per game. They will need to keep up this momentum with a very challenging 6-game series coming shortly after this week.

Prediction:

___________________________________

Week 11: @ Raiders (MNF)

A must-win game because of the rest of their schedule, I think this game is very close on paper. Even though the Raiders hold home field advantage, I think the extra week of preparation will be the key factor in a Cowboys' win.

Prediction: Cowboys 31-20

___________________________________

Week 12: vs Eagles

The Eagles are the better roster no question, but their biggest kryptonite might be AT&T Stadium where they've only won once in 8 tries. Give me the Cowboys here to even out the season series in a very close chess match.

Prediction: Cowboys 26-24

___________________________________

Week 13: vs Chiefs (Thanksgiving Game)

With momentum on their side, the Cowboys will make this a true war. This really feels like one of those games where the 'boys play such a solid game throughout but some Mahomes-magic has them win at the very end.

Prediction: Chiefs 31-27

___________________________________

Week 14: @ Lions

For their 6th of 7 primetime games of the season, the Cowboys fall to a better Lions team to make their record 2-4. The Lions' offense is just too good even without Ben Johnson and should overwhelm a Cowboys' defense that will probably have 1 or 2 injuries by now.

Prediction: Lions 27-21

___________________________________

Week 15: vs Vikings (SNF)

For their final primetime game, the Cowboys enter with a 7-6 record and really need a win to keep playoff hopes alive. Taking on a very talented Vikings' offense and they will need the D-line and corners to really step up. With these two teams having eerily similar roster builds, Ill take the home team here even though I think Jettas has a HUGE game.

Prediction: Cowboys 28-27

___________________________________

Week 16: vs Chargers

The Chargers will have this problem often next season; they are the better team but their secondary won't stand up to good passing teams. The Chargers will win the line of scrimmage on almost every play but Ceedee and Pickens might run circles around them at the same time.

Prediction: Cowboys 24-20

___________________________________

Week 17: @ Commanders

After holding Jayden Daniels in check in Dallas earlier this year, repeating this on the road will be very difficult. With both teams probably jockeying for a Wild Card spot, a Washington win here won't do any favors for the Cowboys.

Prediction: Commanders 31-28

___________________________________

Week 18: @ Giants (TBD)

With a Wild Card spot on the line, (probably) the Cowboys will bring their A-game to the Meadowlands and probably overwhelm a Giants' team who probably have an interim Head Coach at this point in the season.

Prediction: Cowboys 34-17

___________________________________

As surprised as I am to say this, the Cowboys have a very respectable 10-7 record at the end of this exercise, with a 6-2 record at home and a 4-2 record in the NFC East.

Most people including myself are guessing that the Cowboys miss the playoffs this year but their run after the BYE Week is very favorable.

The biggest hurdle for the Cowboys will be health, as one of the most-injured teams of the last few years. If they can stay healthy and protect their home field, I don't see why their first season under Brian Schottenheimer can't be prosperous.
