Week 1 - vs Raiders
The Patriots are a year ahead in their rebuild, and with the season opener at home against a defense that still needs a lot of work in Las Vegas, give this win to the Pats.
Prediction: Patriots 26-17

Week 2 - @ Dolphins
The Dolphins will likely have another offensive explosion in the first few weeks of the season again. Couple that with the Pats' historic struggles away in Miami, and this one has to go in the loss column.
Prediction: Dolphins 28-20

Week 3 - vs Steelers
Aaron Rodgers and company coming to New England might make for one of the best-coached and defensive-dominated games of the season. With Rodgers and Tomlin's experience likely to help in turnovers, this one will barely go to Pittsburgh.
Prediction: Steelers 16-13

Week 4 - vs Panthers
For their second game in a row, the Patriots face the Panthers, who are completely dependent on Bryce Young's progression. It's safe to say that the Pats' defense won't make it an easy day at the office for Young; give this one to the boys.
Prediction: Patriots 27-17

Week 5 - @ Bills (SNF)
Toughest matchup of the year for the Patriots and in primetime. The Bills are too good and have beaten the Pats in Buffalo four times in a row. I expect Drake Maye to go down swinging, but go down he will.
Prediction: Bills 28-22
___________________________________
Week 6 - @ Saints
From their toughest opponent of the year to arguably their easiest, the Patriots will meet the Saints in the second of a three-game road trip. Their travel being the only possible reason for a tough battle, the team as a whole will be too good to lose here.
Prediction: Patriots 26-14
___________________________________
Week 7 - @ Titans
Another matchup on the easier side of their schedule, I expect Vrabel and his retooled defense to create fits for whichever young QB starts this game for the Titans. This will also be the coach's revenge game against the team that fired him. Book the win already!
Prediction: Patriots 31-20
___________________________________
Week 8 - vs Browns
It's very hard to predict any Browns games this season because of the unknown that is their starting QB. Their roster has fallen a few notches, though, and with the Patriots coming back home and winning two in a row, they keep the momentum going here.
Prediction: Patriots 24-19
___________________________________
Week 9 - vs Falcons
The Falcons did a lot to retool their woeful defense and could have some real pass rush this season. This will be a very close game headlined by two second-year QBs and two second-year defensive head coaches. Extremely close call, but the Falcons edge them out.
Prediction: Falcons 23-21
___________________________________
Week 10 - @ Buccaneers
Unfortunately, Tom Brady won't be calling this one. Even more unfortunate, the Pats will come up short against a team that is respectably better at this point in time. The travel mixed with a deadly offense in Tampa will be too much... this time.
Prediction: Buccaneers 34-27

Week 11 - vs Jets (Thurs)
Even more so than the Browns, how will the Jets be this year? If Justin Fields stays healthy and Aaron Glenn rebuilds this defense the right way, I actually like them. Anything can happen on TNF, though, and I believe the better offense in New England will win them this one.
Prediction: Patriots 21-17
___________________________________
Week 12 - @ Bengals
Another huge challenge for Vrabel and the boys, this game will really test the Patriots' new defense. A game they won in Week 1 last year, look for the pitiful Bengals' defense not to be ready for Drake Maye, though. A high-scoring game like this has to go to the Bengals, though.
Prediction: Bengals 38-35
___________________________________
Week 13 - vs Giants (MNF)
The Giants have entered another rebuild and don't have the firepower on either side of the ball to compete against a roster like the Patriots. At home vs. a bitter rival, look for the Pats to play one of their best games of the season here!
Prediction: 30-17
___________________________________
Week 14 - BYE WEEK
Great time for a BYE week. With only 4 games remaining and the Patriots very much in play for a Wild Card spot with a 7-6 record, two of their toughest games of the year are coming up, and they will need to win at least one to keep their playoff hopes alive.
___________________________________
Week 15 - vs Bills
The Bills lost to the Patriots last season in New England, but they were resting their starters then. This game will take everything Vrabel has been trying to implement this offseason, from progression to culture. It's very unlikely the Pats win here, thanks to the Bills' playoff aspirations, though.
Prediction: Bills 27-24
___________________________________
Week 16 - @ Ravens
Another tough break for the boys, the Ravens will firmly be in a First-Week Bye race at this time and will likely have just as good an offense as they did last year. They have a better shot at this one than against the Bills, in my opinion, but will ultimately fall short.
Prediction: Ravens 30-28
___________________________________
Week 17 - @ Jets
After two heartbreaking losses, expect the Pats to run up the score here. This game could possibly decide a Wild Card spot, but in this exercise, both teams are likely out at this point. Still, Vrabel will look to blow off some steam after recent games.
Prediction: Patriots 34-21
___________________________________
Week 18 - vs Dolphins (TBD)
The Pats are 8-8 at this point, and the Dolphins will likely be closer to the 10-win threshold and fighting for playoff seeding. Still, after losing to them in Week 2 and potentially spoiling their rivals' end-of-season, I think the Patriots end the year strong at home.
Prediction: Patriots 24-23
___________________________________
The Patriots end this exercise with a 9-8 record. They also have a 4-2 record within the AFC East division and a 6-3 record at home at Gillette Stadium.
In this exercise, they lost all 5 of their "toughest" games, including games against the Bucs, Ravens, Bengals, and 2 against the Bills. The team is very young and in their first year under Vrabel, and that may prove the difference against the better teams in the league.
Still, with a 9-8 record, winning just one of those 5 tough games could be the difference in a Wild Card berth.
