Team Overview:

The Raiders had a lot of change last offseason including coaching and identity. With Pete Carroll taking control of the franchise, the Raiders have started shaping their identity on offense behind former Seahawk-protege Geno Smith at QB and rookie Ashton Jeanty at RB.
With the defensive identity coming along and most likely going to be built like the Seahawks' in the mid-2010's, the Raiders still have some stars on the side like Maxx Crosby and Christian Wilkins being joined by newcomers Darien Porter and Eric Stokes. This unit has a lot of potential but they also have the feel that they are a year away.
The offense has a different feel that they could be very good from the jump. The offensive line has been built the right way over the last two ways and adding one of the greatest RB prospects ever in Ashton Jeanty should make the Raiders' run game among the best in the league. Geno Smith's addition also give them a calming veteran presence albeit, one who has turnover problems. They key to the Raiders having a great season will be with Geno and his ability to not only control the ball but also outduel opposing offenses to mask their defensive woes.

Week 1: @ Patriots
The Patriots roster is well-built against a team like Vegas especially to stop Geno and the offense. Coupled with a long road trip to New England and this one has to go to the Patriots.
Prediction: Patriots 26-17

Week 2: vs Chargers (MNF)
For the first divisional game and home opener for the Raiders, the defense of the Chargers will be difficult. For Jeanty and the run game, the Chargers front-7 will be a tall task but the pass could be open against their secondary. For the Chargers, they want to run the ball and the Raiders front-7 will be less-equipped to handle it. Even though their at home, I think the Raiders let this one get by them.
Prediction: Chargers 24-20

Week 3: @ Commanders
From bad to worse, the Commanders pass game and secondary could make this a shootout. Happening across the country from the Raiders, both teams will throw for 300 yards probably in this one but I think Jeanty could make a difference here in a road win.
Prediction: Raiders 31-28
___________________________________
Week 4: vs Bears
The Bears have the roster build to really take it to the Raiders even in Vegas. Jaylon Johnson will take away Meyers or whoever the #1 is and the Bears offense will be much too dynamic. The Raiders will put up some points but not enough.
Prediction: Bears 31-24
___________________________________
Week 5: @ Colts
A very winnable game for them, the Raiders will need to have a great defensive game here. The Colts front-7 should do well to stop Jeanty and Bowers but will the Raiders be able to stop Jonathan Taylor? With the Colts' offense unpredictable with their QB room, all it takes is a couple good throws here and there and I'll take the upset in Indy.
Prediction: Colts 24-20
___________________________________
Week 6: vs Titans
The Titans have some potential in their secondary and pass game but are too boom or bust. Cam Ward will have a good season but will have a lot of turnovers the Raiders can take advantage of. This one might turn ugly.
Prediction: Raiders 28-14
___________________________________
Week 7: @ Chiefs
In their first matchup with the Chiefs, the Raiders will do well to weather the storm but like in all of their matchups the Chiefs will own the 4th quarter. Stuffing Jeanty will make their offense one-dimensional and allow the Chiefs to pick up an easy W.
Prediction: Chiefs 21-10
___________________________________
Week 8: BYE Week
At 2-5 in their BYE Week, the Raiders will need to tighten their offense if they want any chance of winning games. Geno Smith's turnovers will be the biggest issue and adding another receiver at this point right before the deadline could really make a difference.
___________________________________
Week 9: vs Jaguars
At home after two weeks of rest, the Jaguars could have a tough time. With a good pass rush but weak secondary, the Raiders' offense. This matchup will depend on Trevor Lawrence and Geno Smith's turnovers and I will give that matchup to Geno.
Prediction: Raiders 35-31
___________________________________
Week 10: @ Broncos (TNF)
Another AFC West matchup but in Mile High... I'm not gonna lie this has close to a 0% chance for the Raiders. The Broncos' defense is too good and the extra benefit of a home game will be the cherry on top.
Prediction: Broncos 24-7
___________________________________
Week 11: vs Cowboys (MNF)
For their 2nd Monday Night Football game of the year they are at home again versus the Cowboys. Like the Bears, the Cowboys should be very dynamic on offense this year as well as have a great pass rush. Geno Smith would have to be perfect to really stand a chance here.
Prediction: Cowboys 31-20
___________________________________
Week 12: vs Browns
The Browns are just like the Colts in that they have a good roster with a weird QB-room. The thing about the Browns is that their offense will be more dependent on the QB and if the Raiders can keep up momentum especially at home they should be able to keep the Browns' offense at bay.
Prediction: Raiders 27-20
___________________________________
Week 13: @ Chargers
After barely losing to them in Week 2, the Raiders will come to this game prepared. With the Raiders offense gaining real momentum, this one will come down to holding the Chargers to less than 25-ish. As long as they bend and don't break to the Chargers run game, they might sneak away with this one.
Prediction: Raiders 21-20
___________________________________
Week 14: vs Broncos
At home the Raiders stand more of a chance where they can really take it to the Broncos defense. The game will come down to who has less turnovers again and with the Broncos' run first approach keeping Bo away from risk, I'll take the Broncos again.
Prediction: Broncos 21-17
___________________________________
Week 15: @ Eagles
Another tough matchup but on the road, the Raiders don't stand much of a chance in this one. The Raiders might be able to put up some points in this one but will definitely be outdueled by the better roster and better coaching.
Prediction: Eagles 27-17
___________________________________
Week 16: @ Texans
Much like last week, the Texans offense especially at home, will be a tall order for Vegas. Derek Stingley will be able to hold the Raiders in check and CJ Stroud should be able to handily outduel Geno.
Prediction: Texans 27-20
___________________________________
Week 17: vs Giants (TBD)
In a battle between two bottom-5 teams, the Giants defense will actually be a lot for the Raiders to handle. I can really see Geno throwing 2 or 3 picks against the daunting Giants' secondary.
Prediction: Giants 24-21
___________________________________
Week 18: vs Chiefs (TBD)
The Chiefs seeding will be a huge factor in this one but with the Bills and Ravens likely to fight until the end of the season, the Raiders will have to hold off Kansas City on the cusp of a #1 seed and it's over before it even starts.
Prediction: Chiefs 26-14
___________________________________

The Raiders finish this exercise with a 5-12 record with a 3-5 record at home and only a 1-5 divisional record within the AFC West.
The Raiders first season under Pete Carroll is definitely a disappointment but with multiple things to be proud of and looking forward to for next year. The offense is dynamic and Ashton Jeanty is a certain candidate for OROY but Geno Smith isn't a good fit because of his age and turnovers.
The defense was great in some areas and not in others, particularly in their front-7 and pass rush. The entire team has a lot of youth and behind leaders like Jeanty, Wilkins and Crosby they should be very well off and with another top draft pick for next year.
