Team Overview

I don't love the additions of Sam Darnold and Cooper Kupp for the Seahawks this season but even I can't argue that this roster looks really good. On offense, the O-line is very young and boasts a lot of potential. For skill positions, the RB spot is VERY deep and for WR they either brought in or drafted several receivers to make up for the loss of D.K. Metcalf.
Then on defense, the Seahawks may be lacking a great pass rush but their secondary and more importantly their coaching will make up for it. Speaking of their secondary, Tariq Woolen and Devon Witherspoon are the best young CB duo in the league with Riq on the outside and Witherspoon manning the Nickel. Add some good safeties like Julian Love and a VERY interesting draft pick in South Carolina Safety Nick Emmanwori to the bunch and this group has all the makings of being legit the best group in all of football... but probably in 2 years or so.
For now, the Sam Darnold-led Seahawks still feel like they're a year away from being real contenders. That being said the schedule will always be the difference and for West Coast teams, travel is always brutal and the Seahawks will be no exception. Can the offense mimic Sam Darnold's success from last year and if not, can the defense step up and be the elite group they have the potential to be? Let's find out, game-by-game.

Week 1: vs 49ers
A home game is always how you want to start the year and they will have the rebuilding 49ers there as an added bonus. The NFC West rivals always have a competitive game but this year will be the first time in a long time that the Seahawks have a massive trenches-advantage.
Prediction: Seahawks 27-21

Week 2: @ Steelers
The best test this offense could face as the Steelers offense got even scarier this offseason. Between T.J. Watt, Jalen Ramsey, Cam Heyward, Darius Slay, Joey Porter Jr, Patrick Queen and Derrick Harmon, the Steelers won't have to score much to get the W here.
Prediction: Steelers 18-14

Week 3: vs Saints
The Saints don't have too much to be hopeful for this season and even less when they travel all the way to Seattle. The Saints have a lot of groups with potential especially their O-line but it's not nearly enough to beat the Seahawks.
Prediction: Seahawks 27-17

Week 4: @ Cardinals
This divisional showdown will be one with huge repercussions at the end of the year but for now it's just a slugfest between two up-and-coming teams. The Cardinals have a similarly underrated defense and a high-potential offense but I actually trust the Seahawks secondary to make a big play late and save this game for Seattle.
Prediction: Seahawks 28-24

Week 5: vs Buccaneers
I have huge hopes for the Buccaneers this year but an away game against a good secondary to nerf Baker's arm is the Buccs kryptonite. I still think this one is a shootout where we see TDs and turnovers galore but I'll give this one BARELY to the home team.
Prediction: Seahawks 24-21

Week 6: @ Jaguars
At 4-1, the Seahawks have A LOT of momentum and they'll need it as they have their longest travel of the year to Jacksonville. A team that is vastly underrated this year, the Jaguars have (on paper) a Top-5 all-around defense with multiple pass rushers and several great DBs. As long as Trevor Lawrence and Liam Coen's offense plays a bit conservative the home team should get this one in another war.
Prediction: Jaguars 27-20
___________________________________
Week 7: vs Texans
Another team with a pretty solid defense, the Texans should make for a great matchup in Seattle. Two teams with young QBs as their identities, I actually see each team's running game being the focus. Both teams are great in pass defense but somewhat weak up the middle and when it comes down to it, I trust Joe Mixon just a hair more than I do Kenneth Walker.
Prediction: Texans 17-14
___________________________________
Week 8: BYE Week
The Seahawks aren't happy but they're not mad either at a 4-3 record halfway through the season. The offense has been great at times but very inconsistent most likely due to some Darnold-interceptions.
___________________________________
Week 9: @ Commanders
I am not a big fan of the Commanders this season and the secondary of the Seahawks after an extra BYE Week of prep doubles down for me. The Commanders are not prepared for the O-line and secondary in Seattle and Jayden Daniels has one of his worst games of the year here.
Prediction: Seahawks 24-17
___________________________________
Week 10: vs Cardinals
After winning in Arizona last time the Seahawks will have an heir of confidence in this one. Unfortunately that could be their outdoing since these teams are so even. In one of these matchups I can really see Darnold throwing 2 or even 3 picks and I'll take this matchup to be the one.
Prediction: Cardinals 28-20
___________________________________
Week 11: @ Rams
The first matchup with the Rams will see the best test for Seattle's secondary. With one of the best QB-Coach duos we've seen, the Rams will get the better of them as they take home field advantage to a W.
Prediction: Rams 31-23
___________________________________
Week 12: @ Titans
The Titans are firmly in rebuild mode but have a decent roster to build from. With a rugged secondary and a solid, young O-line the Titans will keep this interesting in their home stadium. With two QB's that could be turnover-friendly, Ill have to take the rookie Cam Ward to throw one late and cost his team.
Prediction: Seahawks 21-17
___________________________________
Week 13: vs Vikings
Sam Darnold-revenge game here. The Vikings are having a down year and have to travel to their former QB's new stadium and to top it off, the Seahawks have the defense to really nerf Justin Jefferson and without Jettas, the Vikings don't make much of a chance.
Prediction: Seahawks 26-17
___________________________________
Week 14: @ Falcons
Two pretty good teams set to battle here and the Falcons may have an edge. With a high-potential offense and good O-line, the new pass rush for their defense could be the deciding factor as both teams will struggle to throw the ball. Again, I like the other team's RB to make the difference as Bijan could run wild.
Prediction: Falcons 24-20
___________________________________
Week 15: vs Colts
Back at home against a Colts' team that can't throw the ball anyway, their defense will have one of their best games. Not to be outdone by the equally stifling Colts' D, Darnold won't need to put up that many points to escape with a W.
Prediction: Seahawks 20-13
___________________________________
Week 16: vs Rams
The NFC West is ULTRA competitive by this point with all 4 teams gunning for the title which makes this, 2nd-Rams matchup so important. After losing last time out, Woolen and Witherspoon step up and finally slow down Matt Stafford and company to give them the edge in the division.
Prediction: Seahawks 27-24
___________________________________
Week 17: @ Panthers
The Panthers have potential but in this exercise are firmly in the running for the #1 draft pick. With Seattle gunning for a playoff spot, this one will be over before it even starts.
Prediction: Seahawks 31-17
___________________________________
Week 18: @ 49ers
Let me set the stage: Before Week 18, the Cardinals lead the NFC West at 10-6 and everyone else is 9-7 with all 4 teams facing off this week. Battling for a guaranteed playoff spot and a potential division title, the 49ers use better coaching and a better QB to barely get the win and send Seattle to the off season disappointed.
Prediction: 49ers 28-24
___________________________________

The Seahawks finish this exercise with a 9-8 record, including a 6-2 record at home and a 3-3 record in the NFC West.
Through no fault of their own, the Seahawks downfall was the NFC West division which is my pick for the most competitive division in the league this year. Their defense was as stingy as expected and will continue to be the focal point of this team with a probable Top-5 ranking in their heads for next year.
The Sam Darnold experiment is going as most assumed it would; he can sling the ball and lead this team but is still throwing too many picks and not coming up clutch when it matters. Good thing is this team is built to succeed in a year or two and can continue their rebuild in the offseason.
