Team Overview

The Steelers SOMEHOW ended last season with a winning record but lost to the Ravens in the Wild Card round. This offseason was all about sticking to their identity, after being linked to Aaron Rodgers for months, the team decided to pass on drafting a QB and in early June, eventually signed the 41-year old future Hall of Famer.
The team would also pull off a stunning trade, sending their All-Pro Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick back to Miami for Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith. The Ramsey addition turns the Pittsburgh defense into a better version of themselves who ranked Top-3 just last season.
They also traded away and for two receivers this offseason, with DK Metcalf coming to town and immediately signing a max contract and George Pickens being shipped to Dallas.
The offense also saw two new running backs come to town to replace Najee Harris who left in Free Agency. Super Bowl winning backup Kenneth Gainwell and hard-nose running rookie Kaleb Johnson will join Jaylen Warren in a deep and versatile backfield. Blocking for them will be a group of lineman poised to take a big jump this season with their young core.
This team may have a ceiling with Mike Tomlin and Aaron Rodgers both known to come up short in the playoffs in the last decade, but they should still be as physical and strategic as ever.

Week 1: @ Jets
All it took was one week and we already have an Aaron Rodgers-revenge game. Even though the Jets' offense is worse on paper, the difference can be new OC Tanner Engstrand and the retooled O-line. This will be a slugfest but I think the Jets get the last laugh at home.
Prediction: Jets 24-20

Week 2: vs Seahawks
Their home opener will have the new-look Seahawks come to town in a Super Bowl XL rematch. The Seahawks will try to sling the rock all season but with Jalen Ramsey taking this secondary to an other level, the Steelers take this one in a defensive game.
Prediction: Steelers 18-14

Week 3: @ Patriots
Travelling to New England, the Steelers and Patriots matchup should be a defensive masterclass. In a struggle like this, I have to give it to the overwhelming experience advantage for the Steelers.
Prediction: Steelers 16-13
___________________________________
Week 4: vs Vikings
The Vikings should have another dynamic offense this year but in Pittsburgh, the defense should do enough to be outdueled by the Steelers offense.
Prediction: Steelers 24-17

Week 5: BYE Week
A very early BYE week for the Steelers comes right as they're catching real momentum. The team is doing well on both sides of the ball but with 13-straight games ahead and one of the oldest rosters in the league, can they keep it up?

Week 6: vs Browns
The first divisional game of the year for the Steelers and after an extra week of preparation, the Browns coming to town seems like the easiest game of the year.
Prediction: Steelers 27-13
___________________________________
Week 7: @ Bengals (TNF)
Back-to-back divisional games but this one really ups the ante. On the road against their biggest rival on a short notice primetime game, anything can happen. The Bengals top-3 pass offense versus the Steelers top-3 defense. The short notice game seems like a shootout to me so I have to give it to the Bengals.
Prediction: Bengals 31-28
___________________________________
Week 8: vs Packers (SNF)
With a couple extra days to prep for another primetime game, the Steelers face off with the Packers at home. The Steelers may be able to hold the Packers pass game early, but their offense will come up short in a hard fought loss.
Prediction: Packers 23-17
___________________________________
Week 9: vs Colts
If the Colts haven't sured their Quarterback position by this point, this game could get ugly quick. Their defense is good enough to hold the Steelers for a little while but not nearly long enough.
Prediction: Steelers 24-10
___________________________________
Week 10: @ Chargers (SNF)
Tow similarly tough and run-heavy teams, this game will be ultra-competitive but ultimately, the long road trip will limit their ceiling for this game.
Prediction: Chargers 19-17
___________________________________
Week 11: vs Bengals
Their second meeting with the Bengals and the Steelers are ready to extract revenge. They can't limit the Bengals offense like they have other teams' but they can take advantage of one of the worst defenses in the league.
Prediction: Steelers 31-21
___________________________________
Week 12: @ Bears
A classic matchup between two of the oldest franchises in the league, this is a battle between old school and new school. Tomlin and Rodgers go to Chicago to face off with Johnson and Williams. As good as the Bears offense will be, ill take experience in this one.
Prediction: Steelers 24-23
___________________________________
Week 13: vs Bills
When the Bills come to town, the Steelers will need to play their best game of the year. A defense perfectly set up to stop them, as long as the offense can put up points, I'll take them for the home upset.
Prediction: Steelers 24-20
___________________________________
Week 14: @ Ravens
The toughest game of their schedule, even the elite Steelers' defense won't be good enough to stop the Ravens in Baltimore. Try as they might, this one will be a wash.
Prediction: Ravens 28-21
___________________________________
Week 15: vs Dolphins (MNF)
Their final primetime game of the year, (before playoffs) the Dolphins come to Pittsburgh in another war all about the Steelers' D. If Tua's healthy and the Miami defense doesn't let Rodgers stay in the pocket, I'll take the Dolphins here.
Prediction: Dolphins 27-24
___________________________________
Week 16: @ Lions
A tough chess match in Detroit, both team will be fighting for playoff seeding as probable Wild Card candidates. With the Lions' defense younger and hopefully healthy at this point, I think they take the home win.
Prediction: Lions 20-16
___________________________________
Week 17: @ Browns
Currently sitting at a 3-game losing streak, a road game in Cleveland won't be an easy game. Cleveland's roster is good but with their QB position... probably showcasing Shedeur at this point??? Let's say the Steelers' defense wins them this one.
Prediction: Steelers 24-20
___________________________________
Week 18: vs Ravens (TBD)
At 9-7, the Steelers might get lucky here if the Ravens rest their starters. If they are playing for a #1 seed, this could very well be MNF on Week 18. A full season coming down to a home game against the best team in their division, I'll give the Steelers this big time win to cement their playoff hopes.
Prediction: Steelers 21-17
___________________________________

The Steelers finish with a 10-7 record on the year, while going 4-2 in the AFC North and controlling Heinz Field with a 7-2 home record.
The home field advantage, stingy defense and coaching are where the Steelers get their edge and finish the season without a losing record for a 22nd year in a row.
Even if the Steelers do lose the last game to a top-ranked Ravens, they still have a chance at making the playoff but should ultimately run into Baltimore, Kansas City or Buffalo in the First Round and even Aaron Rodgers can't help them then.
A good ceiling for the Steelers again, but one with a definite ceiling later in the year that ends with another non-divisonal title and no playoff win.
