Brian Callahan's first year as Head Coach didn't go so well but they were able to fall into the #1 pick and take their Franchise Quarterback Cam Ward so... glass half full?

In all seriousness this team has a long way to go but the Titans have a lot of goo building blocks and coaches to get there. Cam Ward is far from a complete Quarterback but will have to learn on the job after Will Levis' season-ending shoulder surgery. Around him is a completely rebuilt O-line from 2023 with pass and run blocking potential and one of the best O-line coaches in the league Bill Callahan. They would also bring in Tyler Lockett, Van Jefferson and an array of rookie receivers to make sure Cam Ward has plenty of targets this year.

On defense is where the Titans really need to improve giving up the 7th most rushing yards, having the 3rd lowest turnover differential and the 2nd lowest sacks in the league. With a ton of good pieces and potential in their secondary, it's their front-7 that needs work and sadly didn't see any changes this off season.

I understand that this season is essentially a wash as the Titans organization give experience to Ward to see what they can do and work with moving forward but to make such little changes to a defensive unit that was among the bottom-10 in the league last year is almost negligent. After three years in a row of less wins than the year before, can the Titans finally turn around and do better than their 3-14 2024? Lets find out as we go through their schedule, game-by-game.

Week 1: @ Broncos

A colossal test for any QB is going to Mile-High this season but for a rookie QB to make his first start there? Let's just say the Broncos should capitalize on Titans' mistakes and ride that to an easy victory.

Prediction: Broncos 23-10

Week 2: vs Rams

The home debut will be against the high-powered offense of the Rams but don't forget about their pass rush too. The Titans O-line should open up some good running holes and keep Cameron Ward relatively clean in the pocket but eventually the Rams will put up enough points to make Ward have to sling it and I believe make a mistake at the end of the game.

Prediction: Rams 26-24

Week 3: vs Colts

Staying at home versus their AFC South-foe Colts, Ward will have less help in the run game. A decent defense with playmakers at all 3 levels, the Titans will need to play intelligently and without turnovers. It's a toss up between who makes more between Ward and Daniel Jones but I'd have to go with the more experienced QB and better defense.

Prediction: Colts 21-16

___________________________________ Week 4: @ Texans

The Texans have won 4 of the last 5 matchups between the two franchises and clearly have the advantage in this one. In Houston nonetheless, this matchup should see C.J. Stroud efficiently move the chains while the Texans' secondary makes live hell for the Titans.

Prediction: Texans 24-10

___________________________________

Week 5: @ Cardinals

A solid matchup for the Titans, the Cardinals are a team with a strong but not great group at every position. As long as the Cardinals' secondary doesn't let Marvin go off and the Titans keep attacking with their run game, I can see them escaping with their first win of the season.

Prediction: Titans 20-17

___________________________________

Week 6: @ Raiders

Another tough matchup for the defense, the Raiders might give Ashton Jeanty the ball 30+ times in this one. Ward may very well be able to take advantage of the weak DBs in Vegas but the pass rush will get to him and having to travel across the country means this one has to go to the Raiders.

Prediction: Raiders 28-14

___________________________________

Week 7: vs Patriots

Mike Vrabel-revenge game and the Patriots sort of outmatch the Titans in every way. I'm not especially high on the Patriots as most New Englanders (I have them at 9-8) but their strengths are in the secondary and spreading the ball around to their plethora of offensive threats. They will be too much for the Titans even though I see Drake Maye throwing 1 or 2 interceptions and possibly making this game VERY interesting toward the end.

Prediction: Patriots 31-20

___________________________________

Week 8: @ Colts

Alright I'm going to give this to the Colts too and I'm fully aware it may be my bias but the way these teams match up are not good for Tennessee. Now on a road trip to Indy where the Titans haven't won in 3 years, they would have to cause mutliple turnovers to outscore the Colts' running game and I believe they can, but will come up just short still.

Prediction: Colts 26-23

___________________________________

Week 9: vs Chargers

What do the Chargers like to do? Run the ball. The Titans have the ability to hold off the interior rush but will not be able to stop the boundaries. Another game where Ward will make it interesting against the weak secondary for the Chargers, this game is where we see Ward's true potential come out as he actually outduels Justin Herbert to the tune of a 4th quarter game-winning drive as the Titans steal one at home.

Prediction: Titans 27-21

Week 10: BYE Week

A midseason BYE Week is always preferable to focus on the rest of the season but for the Titans, the season is less about their record and more about progressing their young team. Starting with Ward, he started the year slow and has had many turnovers but has also shown the mental toughness to learn from the mistakes and start showing a lot of good flashes against teams like the Chargers, Colts and Raiders. Can he keep getting better to make their season more respectable at the end or will he be joined by another #1 pick for next season?

___________________________________

Week 11: vs Texans

Staying at home after a win and BYE Week gives the Titans a great chance against the Texans but alas, not enough of one. The Texans defense is very good especially in the pass rush and Derek Stingley who will make Cam Ward's life hell. If Joe Mixon is healthy by this point this game may be even more far apart.

Prediction: Texans 31-24

___________________________________

Week 12: vs Seahawks

The Seahawks secondary is among the best in the league but after Ward's recent performances, I believe he won't have the best day but he'll be efficient in both passing and running the ball. The Seahawks will get this win but not without the Titans limiting turnovers on offense and probably even taking a few away from Sam Darnold.

Prediction: Seahawks 21-17

___________________________________

Week 13: vs Jaguars

For their 5th straight week at home in Tennessee, the Titans match up with the Jaguars for the first time and as long as the O-line keeps Ward clean for most of the game I'll actually take the Jags here. It can't be understated how much their home field streak plays a part in this but I also will take the Titans defense to haunt Trevor Lawrence all game.

Prediction: Titans 24-21

___________________________________

Week 14: @ Browns

No matter how much of a dumpster fire the Browns are their defense is legit. Behind Myles Garrett and Denzel Ward, the Titans offense will have a long day similar to the Browns' offense too. At the end, I have to take the Browns for the home field advantage. If you think of it though, this should be our first time seeing Shedeur and Cam Ward square off.

Prediction: Browns 20-17

___________________________________

Week 15: @ 49ers

A cross-country road trip versus one of the best coached and offensively-dynamic teams in the league means another L for the Titans. In a game where Cam Ward again takes advantage of a weak secondary, his efficiency is a great sign but not enough to take home the W.

Prediction: 49ers 28-14

___________________________________

Week 16: vs Chiefs

Ya... this one is ugly for the Titans. This is a game where Ward may learn more from taking a beating. Turnovers and sacks are in the cards from the 3-time defending AFC Champions and the Titans shouldn't even watch the tape and move on to next week.

Prediction: Chiefs 31-14

___________________________________

Week 17: vs Saints

The Saints are my pick for the #1 pick come April but even their secondary is another test for Cam Ward. Full with playmakers, this game is the magnun opus of Ward's rookie year, shredding the Saints and possibly even having another game-winning drive. In the game that decides who has the #1 pick and who has between the #2 and #4 pick in next year's NFL Draft, the Titans get the win.

Prediction: Titans 24-20

___________________________________

Week 18: @ Jaguars (TBD)

With the Titans Week 17 win they are now out of #1 pick territory but don't get much farther against a Jaguars team fighting for a playoff spot. Winners in Tennessee, Jacksonville is able to get to Ward with their pass rush and take revenge. Finishing the year at 4-13, they improve 1 game from last year on paper but improve so much more in pure player development and their team identity.

Prediction: Jaguars 31-17

The Titans end the season with a 4-13 record including a 3-6 record at home and a 1-5 record against AFC South opponents.

It may seem like I talked about Cam Ward every entry or even too much in this article but that's what this season is all about in Tennessee. In my predictions, the #1 pick of the 2025 Draft has a lot to learn about taking sacks instead of forcing errant throws and making progressions past his second read. These qualities should absolutely come to him this season with all the talent Tennessee has on the O-line and receivers but not enough to win games.

Ward became a real threat by the end of the season and showed that he has an elite arm and continues to get better every week. If the Titans take this offseason to get a real #1 receiver and rebuild their defense, ESPECIALLY their edge rushers and some parts of the secondary, they could finally get back to the playoffs. Head Coach Brian Callahan certainly hopes so because after only 7 wins in his first two season, he'll be on the hot seat in 2026 no matter how good Cam Ward looks.
