1. Ravens
HC John Harbaugh
OC Todd Monken
DC Zachary Orr
The top 3 teams could easily be re-arranged for any of them to be #1 but for my money the Ravens are the best of the best. It's starts from the very top as John Harbaugh's 17 years as Baltimore's Head Coach is just one less than Mike Tomlin's tenure for longest in the league.
Todd Monken has been among the Top-5 OCs in the league since joining the staff 3 years ago thanks to his brilliant run-centered schemes. Zach Orr has been part of this staff for 3 years but was in his first season as DC just last year where the Ravens immediately saw improvements in their run defense.
Assistant Coaches like Brendan Clark, Chuck Pagano, Greg Lewis and Randy Brown are all among the best in their various roles as well. This staff is not only elite but their experienced and elite and for my money the best in the league.
___________________________________
2. Chiefs

HC Andy Reid
OC Matt Nagy
DC Steve Spagnuolo
There's more to the Chiefs' dynasty than just Patrick Mahomes as their coaching staff comes up just short of being the best in the league. Andy Reid has the most coaching experience of anyone in the league after 26 seasons in a row of being a Head Coach and even their offensive and defensive coordinators have head man experience.
Nagy had a rough stint in Chicago years ago but has come to define the new offense in Kansas City with his structure of balancing the pass and run. Steve Spagnuolo has really come into his own though and in his 7th year as Chiefs' DC he may be the very best coach in the league not to be Head Coach. Aside from the drumming in last year's Super Bowl, the Chiefs defense has been Top-5 in the league for 2 or 3 years now and that's thanks to Spags.
Some of the top Assistant Coaches also call Kansas City home like Jay Bleymaier who is one of the up-and-coming Pass Game Coordinators in today's game and OL Coach Andy Heck has been credited with developing players like Creed Humphrey, Orlando Brown and Trey Smith in his 12 years in Kansas City.

3. 49ers
HC Kyle Shanahan
OC Klay Kubiak
DC Robert Saleh
Robert Saleh re-joining this staff has made a lot of the lists I've seen pick the 49ers as the top spot and they certainly should be considered so. Kyle Shanahan has taken some flak for his losses in the playoffs but there's no questioning his rank as one of the greatest offensive minds and offensive play callers in the league.
At a time of roster transition for the 49ers the coaching will never be tested more or have been more important than this season. Saleh's return will immediately bring back the late 2010's style of defense in San Francisco and alongside Shanahan, newly-appointed OC Klay Kubiak should also bring back some life to the offense. On the staff for 4 seasons, Kubiak has spent the last 3 years working with Quarterbacks and as a PGC so he should move seamlessly to the role.
Assistant Coaches like Gus Bradley and Kris Kocurek are good enough to be Defensive Coordinators in their own rights and make the coaching staff of the defense probably the best in the league on that side of the ball.
___________________________________
4. Eagles
HC Nick Sirianni
OC Kevin Patullo
DC Vic Fangio
The reining champion-Eagles have lost so many coaches in the last 5 years to other jobs but they keep bringing in great minds while keeping some of the best AC's in the league.
AC's like the best Offensive Line Coach in the league Jeff Stoutland who have made the Eagles O-line around the top of the league for almost a decade now. Their defensive success with Vic Fangio as DC has been on another level over the past two seasons. Finally bringing it back to the Head Coach Nick Sirianni who has a 48-20 record since taking the helm and obviously led his team to an incredible post season last year.
The Eagles promoted Kevin Patullo to OC after being the team's PGC for the last 4 seasons. Under Patullo's guidance this offense has gone from one of the best run games in the league to a much more balanced and dangerous one in recent years. Time will tell if he can fully grasp the role as OC but for my money he will earn himself a Head Coaching job in the near future.
___________________________________
5. Vikings
HC Kevin O'Connell
OC Wes Phillips
DC Brian Flores
After last season's 14-3 record with Sam Darnold leading the team the Vikings' coaching staff went from "pretty good" to elite. Kevin O'Connell has been one of the brightest offensive minds since his days under Sean McVay and Wes Phillips has made stars out of Sam Darnold and even Kirk Cousins.
On the other side of the ball is Brian Flores and one of the reasons O'Connell can focus so much on offense is because of Flores' pedigree in running a defense. One of the best defensive minds in the league for almost a decade, Flores' is renowned for his work with DBs and should continue to bring this team's defense to it's highest potential.
___________________________________
6. Packers
HC Matt LaFleur
OC Adam Stenavich
DC Jeff Hafley
Similarly to the Vikings, the Packers' "young gun" offensive Head Coach and veteran DC pairing has brought stability to the Packers and has made them a consistent threat every season. LaFleur is another disciple of the Mike Shanahan coaching tree and has won 67% of his games since leading the team 6 years ago.
A ton of credit should go to OC Adam Stenavich. Now in his 3rd year as OC, Stenavich spent two prior seasons as the team's offensive line coach and his continued work with the group has made him one of the best OL coaches in the league right behind Stoutland in Philly.
Bringing in a few new coaches last season, the Packers staff has been rejuvinated with people like Jeff Hafley as DC, Sean Mannion as Quarterbacks coach and Luke Getsy as a Senior Consultant and defensive mind. A coaching staff that is still on the rise, if they have little turnover in future years I wouldn't be surprised to see this group make a serious jump toward #1 soon.
___________________________________
7. Bills
HC Sean McDermott
OC Joe Brady
DC Bobby Babich
Is Sean McDermott the most underrated Head Coach in the league? Winning double-digit wins for 6 straight seasons, McDermott and Allen are the closest thing in the current league to the Brady-Belichick dynamic that ruled over the AFC East for 20 seasons. A defensive mind, McDermott has led that unit to a Top-11 ranking in points allowed in 5 of the last 6 seasons.
The recent upgrade at OC to Joe Brady paid off immediately for Josh Allen and company as the team ranked 2nd in the league in his first full season last year.
___________________________________
8. Steelers
HC Mike Tomlin
OC Arthur Smith
DC Teryl Austin
No other team has embodied great coaching for decades like the Steelers have and the #8 ranking could very well be the lowest this coaching staff has been ranked in this century. The picture of consistency, Mike Tomlin's no nonsense approach and defensive specialty is the reason this team hasn't had a losing record in his 18-year career as Head Coach.
Arthur Smith may have failed as Falcons' Head Coach but his whiz as offensive coordinator isn't questioned. One of the best play callers and offensive minds around the run game, Smith fit right in with the Steelers' identity and should be even better in 2025. Teryl Austin will be in his 4th season as DC for the Steelers and alongside Tomlin has created arguably the best defense in the NFL in that span.
A huge part of the Steelers' consistency in coaching is the veteran presence. ACs in Pittsburgh just don't leave and over 10 coaches have been with the team over a decade. Following Tomlin's lead, loyalty, defense and toughness are keywords for Pittsburgh and the reason for one of the best staffs in the league.
___________________________________
9. Chargers
HC Jim Harbaugh
OC Greg Roman
DC Jesse Minter
The newest-built staff so far on this list, the Chargers made an immediate impact with their staff's first season. What was thought to be a dream team of coaches when Harbaugh first announced it, Minter and Roman joining him created an instant identity of smash-mouth football.
Specializing in running the football, Greg Roman's tenure on the Ravens prepared him beautifully for his transition to the other Harbaugh's offense. Immediately paying dividends last year, the Chargers became one of the best running teams in the league.
On the other end, Jesse Minter is becoming one of the most likely candidates to become a Head Coach next offseason thanks to his defensive prowess at both the college and pro levels. In just three years, Minter has turned Michigan and then the Chargers to the best defenses in their leagues with an understanding of how to disrupt opponent-Quarterbacks. The duo of Harbaugh and Minter was already special before the running-guru Greg Roman entered the picture and became really great. In 2025, look for them to jump to elite status.
___________________________________
10. Broncos
HC Sean Payton
OC Joe Lombardi
DC Vance Joseph
Rounding out the Top-10 is the Broncos who were closer to 30 last season before Sean Payton reminded us just who he is. Alongside other veteran signal-callers Lombardi and Joseph, Payton brought his "dream team" to Denver and quickly flopped in his first year. After a full offseason with his staff and team though, Payton quickly became a Coach of the Year candidate.
The trio of coaches have more than 50 years of experience in the NFL and while Joseph specializes in attacking Quarterbacks, Payton and Lombardi's prowess to build Quarterbacks is the perfect compliment. Sure enough, last season Bo Nix far surpassed everyone's predictions and the Broncos had the most sacks in the league.
Imagine what another offseason will do for this team.
___________________________________
11. Rams
HC Sean McVay
OC Mike LaFleur
DC Chris Shula
Sean McVay was the catalyst for the shift in Head Coaching hires we still see to this day and quite possibly is the best offensive mind in the NFL today. For 7 years McVay was the youngest Head Coach in the NFL before Seattle's Macdonald took his spot in 2024 and more recently Kellen Moore this offseason. His ingenuity in offensive schemes using motions and and overwhelming offenses was so ahead of it's time when he first got to the scene 8 years ago that the league has only just now finally caught up to it.
Mike LaFleur, (younger brother of Matt LaFleur) has been the OC in Los Angeles for 2 seasons now and even though everything runs through McVay has done an excellent job building guys like Puka Nacua and Kyren Williams to reach their fullest potential. On defense, Chris Shula has climbed his way through the organization for 8 years and is a company-guy who may have struggled last year in his first year of the job, but his whit and savviness for DBs especially give him a great future amongst the youngest and somehow also one of the most experienced head staffs in the league.
___________________________________
12. Dolphins
HC Mike McDaniel
OC Frank Smith
DC Anthony Weaver
Some would say Mike McDaniel is the closest thing to McVay we have in the league and the 2023 Dolphins are the proof. Along with Frank Smith's rise to one of the best OCs in the league, 2023 was the proof of this duo's ELITE offensive skills in coaching. Unfortunately in 2024 the Dolphins dealt with a lot of injuries and looked nowhere near as good as the previous season but don't be fooled, but with everyone coming back healthy and the team bringing in Bobby Slowik as PGC who is ANOTHER brilliant offensive mind, this team should get close to repeating their 2023 season this year.
On defense, Anthony Weaver was fantastic in his first season as DC coming from Baltimore. Working with a lot of talent including Phillips, Ramsey and Robinson, Weaver led the Dolphins' defense to be Top-10 in points allowed for the first time in 5 years.
This staff has one of the best potentials of any especially when adding Slowik. After 2023 I can't quite move them up this list but wouldn't be surprised if they moved close to 5 if they have a healthy 2025.
___________________________________
13. Commanders
HC Dan Quinn
OC Kliff Kingsbury
DC Joe Whitt Jr.
Everyone wants to talks bout how amazing Jayden Daniels was in his rookie season and rightfully so, but not enough credit is being given to Quinn and Kingsbury. Kliff Kingsbury is like Arthur Smith in getting a bad wrap for a lousy Head Coaching run in Arizona but his legacy as an offensive coordinator in the NCAA and now in Washington is as great an innovative as anyone. Working with Manziel, Mahomes, Kyler Murray, Caleb Williams and now Jayden Daniels makes him maybe the best OC for mobile Quarterbacks in the world.
Dan Quinn's reputation as a defensive coach for the Seahawks, Falcons and Cowboys is legendary and turned the WORST defense in the league in 2023 to around the 13th in his very first year in Washington. Joined by Joe Whitt Jr in his first year as well, the defense was remarkably better especially against the pass where they ranked 3rd in yards against.
___________________________________
14. Raiders
HC Pete Carroll
OC Chip Kelly
DC Patrick Graham
The 2nd newest staff from the Head Coach to coordinators in the league, Pete Caroll's ensemble of coaches in Vegas seems elite but there are still some questions for the 73-year old's first year back in charge.
Chip Kelly's first year in Vegas was a good one and led to a guy like Brock Bowers taking over the league and with more weapons to work with this year should continue his tradition as a very strategic play caller.
On the other side, along with Carrolls' knowledge and background in building a defense is Patrick Graham. Even between the dumpster fires of teams the Raiders have had since Graham's DC-appointment in 2022, the man has kept his unit in the middle of the league while helping stars like Maxx Crosby and Robert Spillane flourish. Surrounded by better coaches and a better team should only help him improve.
___________________________________
15. Falcons
HC Raheem Morris
OC Zac Robinson
DC Jeff Ulbrich
The Falcons' staff was good last year and is now adding Jeff Ulbrich to a defense that seems to be on the rise anyway. Ulbrich and Morris should pair as an awesome duo and finally bring this defense to a respectable state after a decade of mediocrity since their last Super Bowl.
Zac Robinson is another McVay disciple and it shows with Kirk Cousins' first half and Michael Penix' second half of the 2024 season. Now with Penix firmly as his guy and an offense that might have the best supporting cast of weapons in the league, Robinson's prowess as a pass game expert should either sink or swim.
___________________________________
16. Buccaneers
HC Todd Bowles
OC Josh Grizzard
DC Todd Bowles
The entire staff of coaches in Tampa truthfully deserves to be closer to the #10 mark but with Todd Bowles being the only coach playing double duty and Liam Coen's departure to the Jaguars, the staff has to much potential to go the opposite way.
Grizzard's appointment to OC is well deserved after being PGC for years and being credited (behind Coen) as one of the reasons for Mayfield's resurrection in Tampa. Now being trusted with the whole offense many expect Tampa's air raid to only dip slightly if at all.
On defense there's no question Todd Bowles has been among the upper echelon of defensive minds for over a decade. Alongside Larry Foote who's playing career turned him into one of the best LB coaches in the league, this unit will continue to be around the Top-10 mark if the Buccs can continue where they left off without Coen.
___________________________________
17. Texans
HC Demeco Ryans
OC Nick Caley
DC Matt Burke
The 2024 Texans were somewhat of a disappointment compared to the previous year and controversially would even fire Bobby Slowik because of it and replace him with Nick Caley who is yet another McVay disciple. Slowik is one of the brightest pass game minds in the NFL and his departure could lead to yet another rough year for CJ Stroud especially if the O-line doesn't improve.
Thankfully for the team, their defensive staff is Top-10 behind Ryans and Burke. The team has seen the defense climb from 30th in the league to Top-15 in their first year and then Top-10 last season. Hopefully for them a fresh mind in Caley can bring back the offense to it's 2023 prowess but for now it's too much of a mystery.
___________________________________
18. Patriots
HC Mike Vrabel
OC Josh McDaniels
DC Terrell Williams
The newest staff in the league, the Patriots mysteriously moved on from Jerod Mayo after just 1 season but have probably gotten better for it. A very underrated move was bringing back Josh McDaniels who was the archetype for offensive success and ingenuity for the Brady years. Now that he's back, Drake Maye and the surplus of offensive weapons on the team should surely benefit.
Terrell Williams is a bit of a mystery but has been a great D-line coach for years and should hopefully bring that knowledge to New England where they sorely need a pass rush. Mike Vrabel should be a great HC for the Pats thanks to his defensive knowledge as a player and coach. He had a few great seasons in Tennessee where he really built up the defense but was forced out prematurely. Now in New England with the full support of players and staff, we should see an even better version of Vrabel.
___________________________________
19. Bears
HC Ben Johnson
OC Declan Doyle
DC Dennis Allen
Ben Johnson was the most coveted coach of the last few seasons for teams and finally made the move to the head man in Chicago. His offensive prowess and game planning is easily Top-5 in the league and on a Chicago team with a LOOOOOOAD of offensive potential in their personnel.
Dennis Allen is also a great hire and should be able to continue the Bears' run as at least a Top-15 defense in the league. Along with Allen came Declan Doyle who was Allen's OA in New Orleans. Doyle's pedigree is much lower than his running mates but served as a good TE coach in Denver last year and shouldn't even be too impactful on an offense that is most definitely going to be the brain child of Johnson anyway.
___________________________________
20. Lions
HC Dan Campbell
OC John Morton
DC Kelvin Sheppard
The Lions lost their OC, DC, PGC, Assistant QB Coach, Wide Receivers Coach and Defensive Line Coach in this off season. If you didn't know... that's a lot. To still be ranked 20 is a testament of the sheer wealth of coaching talent in that franchise and especially to the man himself Dan Campbell.
Sheppard's promotion to DC wasn't a big surprise after 3 seasons as a LB coach in Detroit and John Morton's stint as PGC in Denver saw hir true potential last season with Bo Nix' incredible rookie season.
This group is untested was picked to the bone therefore have to be this low but seeing how well Campbell grooms his coaches and holds everyone accountable like a good HC does, I wouldn't be surprised to see them get back to the Top-10 soon.
___________________________________
21. Browns
HC Kevin Stefanski
OC Tommy Rees
DC Jim Schwartz
I genuinely feel bad for Stefanski and Schwartz because they are really good coaches that have seemingly fallen because of their franchise. The Browns recent success and most likely failure this season could even lead to firings on this staff which is a shame because on paper they are Top-15. Stefanski will be in his 6th year as Head Coach which is the longest tenure for the team since... Checks Notes... Sam Rutigliano from 1978 to 1983. There's a reason for that as he's a skilled offensive play caller who unfortunately hasn't had much of an offense to call plays for. The hiring for Tommy Rees out of Alabama is interesting but feels like somewhat of a band aid rather than a real fix.
Jim Schwartz is a vet and a good defensive mind as shown by the dumpster-fire of an organization seemingly consistent defense over the past few years. Schwartz' ability to accentuate players like Garrett and Ward and potentially this year's rookie class of Graham and Schwesinger should make him untouchable but sadly won't and from no mistake of his own.
___________________________________
22. Jaguars
HC Liam Coen
OC Grant Udinski
DC Anthony Campanile
One of my hot takes on this list is having the Jaguars up at 22 when most lists will tell you they are somewhere between 30-32 in the league. In my opinion the offensive coaching between Coen and OC Grant Udinski who was one of the masterminds behind the Vikings' QB success of the last 3 seasons, should really help the Jags and Trevor Lawrence.
New Defensive Coordinator Anthony Campanile is coming from Green Bay and Miami where he did some very good things for both teams' run defense.
This staff along with the Jets' and Patriots' is the newest in the league and while they're more unproven than the Patriots, could really show their potential especially on offense in a very quick turnaround.
___________________________________
23. Seahawks
HC Mike Macdonald
OC Klint Kubiak
DC Adam Durde
In their first year on the staff, HC Macdonald and DC Durde brought back the stifling defense and high-powered secondary that once made Seattle the Legion of Boom. Coming back for their second season could see an even higher progression under the 2nd youngest Head Coach in the league.
On offense the team replaced Ryan Grubb after only 1 season as OC with Klint Kubiak in 2023 and the former Saints OC had a pretty alright first season. Now being paired with Sam Darnold will truly show whether the younger Kubiak has what it takes to become great in the league. Kubiak's unproveness brings this staff's ranking down a bit and as a whole is in the upper echelon of the mid-tier on this list.
___________________________________
24. Titans
HC Brian Callahan
OC Nick Holz
DC Dennard Wilson
This staff has a lot of potential as a trio and even has some high-ranking ACs as well but last year's turmoil has to keep them from being any higher than 24. Callahan's tenure as OC for the Bengals gave him a bright future for this offense especially when bringing in his father Bill who is one of the best OL coaches in the league. Unfortunately their offense showed very little upside even with Nick Holz as a pass game expert to be OC. Now with Cam Ward becoming their guy, hopefully this offense will show the potential this staff deserves in 2025.
Dennard Wilson actually carries this group as in his first year heading the defense, brought the team to the 2nd defense in the league in yards allowed in just his first year. After a full off season with the team, Wilson should continue to make his unit the bright spot of this team with his expertise as one of the best DB coaches in the sport.
___________________________________
25. Jets
HC Aaron Glenn
OC Tanner Engstrand
DC Steve Wilks
The final new staff to come about this off season has a very Lions feel which is always a good thing. Glenn is in his first year as Head Coach which is always unpredictable but alongside veteran defensive mind Steve Wilks should continue the tradition of the Jets' dominant defense.
On offense, Lions PGC Tanner Engstrand will try the herculean task of runnning the Jets offense that hasn't ranked Top-20 in yards or points since 2015. Engstrand had a lot of help with the Lions offense by some guy named Ben Johnson so his true potential is somewhat unknown and should be tested right away in New York.
___________________________________
26. Panthers
HC Dave Cannales
OC Bradley Idzik
DC Ejiro Evero
Last year the Panthers were close to Top-15 in this ranking because of Canales and Evero's potential in their roles but after last season can't be as high. Canales' work in the second half of the season with Bryce Young should be respected but besides the young QB this team had nothing else to show.
The defense ranked 32nd in points and yards and if Ejiro Evero wants to get anywhere near the 2023 thought process of him being a future head coach, changes will need to be made quickly.
If Canales and Idzik want to continue any success the Panthers' offense might have seen they will need to steer the Bryce Young-ship back around the way they did in Tampa years ago too. Even in just their second year as a staff, this unit might be on a short leash already.
___________________________________
27. Saints
HC Kellen Moore
OC Doug Nussmeier
DC Brandon Staley
This staff has a lot of potential and on paper may seem to belong closer to 20 but with one serious flaw. Kellen Moore was a great offensive mind on Dallas and Philly but had a lot of help in his personnel to do so. Now in New Orleans where he quite frankly doesn't have that help, his true offensive skill will be tested gravely right away.
After failing in Los Angeles, Brandon Staley should return to being a dent-to-very good DC in New Orleans especially with some talented pieces he has to work with. On the other end, Nussmeier followed Moore from Philly where he served as the QB coach and will also have a very tall order on an offense with Kamara and not much else. It may take them two seasons, but when this team gets some players this staff will be looked at much higher than they are now.
___________________________________
28. Bengals
HC Zac Taylor
OC Dan Pitcher
DC Al Golden
Truth be told the GM deserves a lot of credit for this coaching staff falling flat this season. getting rid of Lou Anarumo for Al Golden will hopefully help one of the worst defenses from a season ago but all signs point to probably not.
Zac Taylor is a good offensive-minded Head Coach and even brought his team to a Super Bowl 4 years ago. Sadly the team has just not been able to win close games and no matter how amazing Joe Burrow is, the offense can never do enough to put this team in a position to repeat their early success. With another frightening year of defense likely ahead of them, I have to keep the Bengals toward the bottom of this list.
___________________________________
29. Colts
HC Shane Steichen
OC Jim Bob Cooter
DC Lou Anarumo
As a Colts fan I was surprised to have them this low but I have to face facts. The offensive staff is good headed by Shane Steichen and his blend of QB and running game expertise. Jim Bob Cooter is another reason the cavalcade of mid-QBs like Gardner Minshew and Joe Flacco have had some success and should be rewarded for still coaching a goodish group despite massive injuries.
On the other side of the ball is where this team falls down the list. Remember when I just said the Bengals probably improved from a horrendous defense in 2024? Well the Colts hired that DC. For a unit that placed 25th in the league last year, the defense will now be headed by Lou Anarumo who has a unique style of being able to pressure the Quarterback but has shown no evidence of being able to lead a good defense for more than a season.
___________________________________
30. Cowboys
HC Brian Schottenheimer
OC Klayton Adams
DC Matt Eberflus
This staff comes down to one question, can Schottenheimer run one of the most storied franchises in NFL history? After the longest wait to hire a Head Coach in a very long time, the Cowboys finally landed on Schottenheimer which makes me believe they are not even fully behind him.
Eberflus failed in Chicago but should be able to run a decent to good defense but without much high end potential especially when you factor in the Micah Parsons-drama in Dallas. Klayton Adams did some good work for the Cardinals' run game over the previous years and will need to bring every bit of it if he's going to carry on the Cowboys tradition of smash mouth football.
Good coaching should get them higher on this list but a lack of any high-end potential keeps them toward the bottom.
___________________________________
31. Cardinals
HC Jonathan Gannon
OC Drew Petzing
DC Nick Rallis
I actually like Jonathan Gannon but the problem I have with the Cardinals coaching staff is everyone below him. Petzing and Rallis have done little to nothing to impress me over the last 2 seasons and with Gannon calling the defensive plays seem to be almost useless to their boss.
The Assistant coaches on this team are even ranked consistently low as well. With a team like the Cardinals seemingly always falling just short of average expectations, a lack of coaching talent below the Head Coach is usually the answer. If the Cardinals fail to make the playoffs again they should look into shaking the entire room up.
___________________________________
32. Giants
HC Brian Daboll
OC Mike Kafka
DC Shane Bowen
Finally, the wooden spoon goes to the Giants because of course it does. Brian Daboll has a good offensive mind truly but this experiment should have been blown up 2 years ago and definitely should've this off season.
Alas the G-men are going to run it back with a new look QB room and a defense that actually has a really high-potential this year.
I hate to be a hater but if I had to pick one coach to be fired midseason it'd be Daboll after the team starts around 2-5. With a young and promising team on the roster, this will actually be a good move for the franchise as it resets again in a much better position.
