First reported by Jeff Passan for ESPN, the Red Sox have signed Outfielder and #1 prospect in Baseball Roman Anthony to a 8 year/$130 Million extension. The deal also includes a club option for the 2034 season making it effectively a 9 year contract.
The 21-year old has only played 46 games in the Show this year but has looked every bit like the coveted prospect he was built up as.
A 2nd round-pick in 2022 Draft, Anthony rocketed up the Minors and was given comparisons like Bryce Harper due to his fluid swing and power at such a young age.
The extension will cover Anthony until he's 30 years old and should make what we all know a reality; this kid is the future of baseball in Boston.
