2026 Schedule: B+

Georgia has firmly established themselves as the favorites in the SEC this year with not only the easiest schedule in the conference but the most returning starters from 2025 as well. Their defense returns 2 All-American level defenders at each level of their defense including top players Ellis Robinson V, Chris Cole, KJ Bolden and DT Elijah Griffin who I'm VERY high on to be a standout this season and lead them interiorly.

I'm very confident that Georgia's defense will be a Top-3 unit this season. As for their offense, there is almost zero chance they're not dominant again. Their RB room is perhaps the best in the country with a 3-man rotation of future NFL players and their O-line IS the best in the country, with two of the best Tackles in the nation as well. Gunnar Stockton should have as good of a season as any QB due to his leadership and experience in big games. His ability to stay cool late in games not to mention the stars and coaches around him give him the best chance to succeed and is only one of the dozen reasons Georgia will get back to the playoffs and maybe another Natty.

2026 Prediction:

Now in the 3rd year of Kalen DeBoer's Alabama, we're at the point where I'd say it's officially his program. After their up-and-down 11-4 season last year, Bama had a decent offseason where most of their work came from establishing players inside their building and growing their roots rather than harping too much on the transfer portal.

Alabama's Quarterback is still technically up in the air but is expected to be redshirt freshman Keelon Russell. Along with Ryan Williams and a slew of underclassmen playmakers with a lot of potential, this offense should be dynamic but with a lack of experience that could see them disappoint late in the seasons similar to last season. As this is Alabama, their defense should remain elite with one of the best returning secondaries including Keon Sabb and Zabian Brown patrolling the air and their top Edge Rusher Yhonzae Pierre rocketing up draft boards with his performances over the summer.

I have high hopes for the team including late season wins at Baton Rouge and Tennessee in what is otherwise an easy schedule in the SEC. Unfortunately for them, I don't think they can beat the Georgia's and Texas' when it comes to conference play and the playoffs.

The Sooners should be in store for another frustrating season if you're an Oklahoma fan. John Mateer will be back and healthy in what could be a Heisman-hopeful season but the rest of the team is a question mark and that all starts with Brent Venables. Can Venables finally prove he's the man for the job especially in their 3rd season in the SEC. Their 3rd season by the way, has the 2nd hardest Strength of Schedule in the nation featuring 3 Top-15 opponents in their first 5 games and 5 Top-25 opponents to close the year out. Ouch.

2025 was going to be the year Venables finally emerges as a Sooner but a 10-3 finish just was not good enough with as lofty of expectations as they had. Their defense was a supreme bright spot at the end of the season and should carry over into 2026 with stars at each level including DT David Stone and LB Owen Heinecke. The offense will be the problem as besides John Mateer's calming play, the Sooners ranked bottom-10 in the nation in yards per carry last year but the good news is that both top running backs and 4 starting lineman return as either sophomores or juniors.

Tennessee

Tennessee is a throw up in 2026 much like they were in 2025 only now we have a better guess as to where the ups and downs are. What should be a solid offensive team is returning most of their lineman and playmakers including team-leading rusher and receiver DeSean Bishop and Braylon Staley respectively, but are starting either redshirt freshman George MacIntyre or prize true freshman Faizon Brandon at Quarterback which is... intriguing let's say.

Their defense will have a lot of questions to answer however especially with defensive coordinator Jeff Knowles in his first year where traditionally he has a feeling-out process. The Volunteers defense will be made up of 75% transfers and either first or second year players and combined with their DC's knack to take a year to process his side, I expect this team to have some major defensive liabilities at the very least in the first half of the season if not all the way through.

I believe that with Georgia securely in the SEC championship at this point, the other spot will go to the Aggies, Crimson Tide or the Longhorns in what should be one of the best finishing races of the season. With that race ALMOST too close to call right now, I will go out and make Texas my pick with an 11-win season headlined by Arch Manning reaching the potential we all wanted to see in 2025.

Texas brought in one of the best recruiting classes this Spring to compliment one of the best transfer classes on both sides of the ball. Returning Arch is obviously a huge part of why they should be ranked Top-5 in the pre season polls but bringing in 3 HUGE offensive playmakers through the portal, (Smothers, Brown and Coleman) will perhaps give Sark and Manning the edge to have the best offense in all of college football. Coming off the graces of a disappointing 2025 season where from November, they were as good as almost anyone. Look for a more mature Manning and bloodthirsty Sarkisian to start putting SEC teams on notice. After a Week 2 meeting in Columbus, I truly think Texas can run the table against a stacked schedule.

As far as the post season goes, I have them in a nail-biting loss in Athens to the Bulldogs which pushes them down to a first round team in the CFP. A win against an 11 or 12-seed is easy to predict but then a Round 2 win could see them facing Georgia again in the Semi-Finals for either a gigantic heartbreak or retribution of the highest caliber.

Ole Miss

Odds to Win SEC: +1100

Question and answer: Will Lane Kiffin's hurt Ole Miss' immediate future? Yes it will.

Pete Golding did a remarkable job of taking over in the CFP and bringing his team to within an inch of the Natty, then remarkably keeping stars on the Rebels like star QB Trinidad Chambliss, RB Kewan Lacy and DT Will Echoles who were very close to following Kiffin to Baton Rouge. His first 3 months on the job went almost as perfect as they could but now he'll have to guide his team through an entire season in the SEC and as impressive as his first act was, I just don't believe this team has what it takes without Kiffin.

First things first, Ole Miss' offense last year was incredible behind Lacy and Chambliss and even though they return in 2026, without Kiffin I see them having a just-decent season and disappointing. Their defense should be solid as ever under Golding and keeping Echoles and LB Suntarine Perkins but with road matchups in the Swamp, at Texas and Oklahoma and home games include Benedict Kiffin and Georgia, I would be shocked if this wasn't the best team in the country to still have 4 or even 5 losses.

Texas A&M

Odds to Win SEC: +850

2026 Schedule: D+

I really love what Mike Elko has done with the Aggies in his first two seasons but their 2026 campaign scares me due to their huge turnover on both offensive and defensive line. As far as their offensive playmakers and defensive secondary, As to A+s. But when you start to realize that 4 of your O-line starters and 3 d-line starters weren't on your team last year things could get murky.

I still think this team is a winner and brings experience as well as coaching to the table, but I don't think they'll grab 11 regular season wins again when you consider their schedule being Top-5 toughest in the conference with road games at LSU, Bama and Oklahoma before the Red River Rivalry ends the year at Gaylord Memorial. The Aggies should lose a few games in the clutch because of their trenches and Marcel Reed's turnovers but still might be good enough to earn a weak, 12-seed and make the playoffs... MAYBE.

Probably the most watched and scrutinized team in the entire conference this season will be LSU and their shiny new Head Coach Lane Kiffin. In the midst of Kiffin's departure from Ole Miss, his new school and him brought in the #1 transfer class in the country while still maintaining a Top-10 recruiting class including the #1 prospect, DT Lamar Brown.

LSU will have a tough schedule that includes a road game at Ole Miss in what will be the most intense game of the year, as well as home games against Texas A&M, Alabama and Texas. Their roster should be good centered around Sam Leavitt running a Lane Kiffin offense and their defense will return a lot of starters and key players as well. It's hard for me to predict a great season out of the gate for a team with as huge of a coaching change as the Tigers but LSU and Kiffin could be a rare exception that jumps out of the gate swinging. I think 9-10 wins should be an achievable goal but it will depend on how this team rises to the challenge in their biggest games and how their transfers hit the ground in Baton Rouge especially on their O-line.
