Tennis Superstar pulls out of US Open, due to Covid-19 concerns

New York- Simona Halep, who is ranked #2 in women's tennis has decided not to take the trip to New York and opt-out of the US Open.

Halep expressed why she was dropping out of the tournament on her social media. "I always said I would put my health at the heart of my decision and I, therefore, prefer to stay and train in Europe." Halep is not the only big star to pull out of the US open; Bianca Andreescu, world No. 1 Ashleigh Barty, Elina Svitolina, Kiki Bertens, and Belinda Bencic have decided to opt-out.

The US Open will start August 30th without fans and even though fans will not be present, it will be broadcast live. Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka, Sofia Kenin, and Karolina Pliskova will be playing in the tournament and they are pretty excited to get back to Tennis and see where they are all at, despite the long break that they had, due to the pandemic.
