This weekend, the New York Mets could not take the rubber match against the Cincinnati Reds, losing in a close one 3-2 in the series finale yesterday. Mets SS Francisco Lindor went hitless Saturday afternoon, but he made his impact felt throughout the series and has played well for the Mets down the stretch.

In 2025, Francisco Lindor was selected to first All-Star Game as a Met, and for good reason. The Puerto Rico native is slashing .268/.342/.461 with 26 home runs. Lindor is on pace to hit his third consecutive 30+ home run season for the second time in his career. If Lindor continues on this pace, he would be the first Met shortstop in franchise history to achieve the feat. He has continued to prove that he is one of the premium power-hitting shortstops that we have in the game today, while remaining solid defensively.

Recently Lindor has been on fire at the dish, providing the team with tough at-bats and solid contact at the top of the lineup. In ten of the last twelve games, Lindor has reached base and hit safely in nine of them. This allows guys like Juan Soto and Pete Alonso to do what they do best, which is driving in runs. Lindor is sitting at 99 runs scored for this season. If he eclipses the 100 run mark, that would be the first time in his career that he has scored at least 100 runs in three straight seasons.

The Mets will get an early taste of a playoff environment as they finish their eleven game road trip in Philadelphia. In the teams last matchup against each other in August, Lindor recorded multiple hits in two of the three games, bumping his season average up to .385 against the Phillies. Let's see if Lindor can start off his week continuing to hit Phillie pitching. First pitch will be tonight at 6:45.
