Sunday afternoon, the Los Angeles Dodgers salvaged the series finale of the weekend series, defeating the San Diego Padres 8-2. Dodger first baseman Freddie Freeman popped two home runs in the victory, driving in three of the eight runs on Sunday. The 35-year-old has been a model of consistency throughout his career, and has improved with age.

Another year, another headache for pitching staffs throughout the league. In 2025, Freeman has remained a tough out for pitchers. He is slashing .302/.375/.501 with 18 home runs, while playing in over 90 percent of the games this season.

Durability has never been a problem for Freeman. From 2018-2024, Freeman has averaged 143 games played. This season, he has already played in 118 games, with 31 games left in the regular season, so he is on pace to surpass his average.

The 16-year veteran has been on a heater the last week. Freeman has slashed .370/.452/.815 with three home runs and only two strikeouts in 27 at-bats. Freeman is slugging and being a tough out for opponents, which has kept a struggling Dodger offense above water. The Dodgers came out of this past week without a series win by splitting to the Colorado Rockies and losing 2-of-3 to San Diego.

A reoccurring theme in the Dodgers losses last week was the lack of run support. The Dodgers went 3-4 last week. They averaged only two runs in losses and just over nine runs in wins.

The inconsistent offense has not been because of Freeman. In the last seven games, Freeman has reached base safely in six games, driven in five runs, and recorded four multi-hit games in that span.

Freeman leads all active players in hits (2,401) and extra base hits (933). He continues to build a legacy that has already made him one of the best players of all time. Freeman is on pace to become the first player since Miguel Cabrera, to reach 3,000 hits, if he stays healthy. For now, Freeman and the Dodgers are focused on bringing back some hardware to LA.

The Dodgers start a six-game road trip against the Cincinnati Reds Monday night. First pitch is at 10:00 EST/ 7:00 PST.
