1. Miami

8-0 (6-0)

AP Ranking: 1

The Hurricanes had a close call in Chapel Hill this weekend but remain undefeated. Darian Mensah had another outstanding game and has jumped to the top of the list for current Heisman contenders. This week will be huge for the Hurricanes who have been largely untested as they meet one of their biggest rivals and other top ranked school...

2. Notre Dame

7-1

AP Ranking: 4

Yes, the matchup this week between the Irish and Hurricanes will be the most watched and anticipated matchup between two Top-5 schools annd the two BEST teams in the nation in my opinion. The Irish are averaging 44.5 points when playing in South Bend this weekend which they will need to repeat as they face off with the best offense in the country at home.

3. Utah

8-0 (5-0)

AP Ranking: 3

Utah has been under the radar too long this season and jumps up 2 spots to #3 in my poll this week. Undefeated even after games with Houston and at Cincinnati and Iowa State, Utah has been merking teams too with an average score of 39-16 on the season and an offense that ranks Top-12 in yards and points per game.

4. Indiana

8-1 (5-1)

AP Ranking: 6

At a certain point, a team can't be penalized for being in games that come down to the wire every time if they consistently win them and that's where Indiana is right now. Curt Cigentti just knows how to win and always puts his team in the right spots in the 4th Quarter and Overtime. They should start trying to be better in the first 3 though.

5. Georgia

7-1 (5-1)

AP Ranking: 2

On paper, Georgia is as doiminant as always and looked miles better this week against the Gators after their BYE Week. My problem is that Georgia hasn't been challenged by anyone in the Top-15 besides Alabama in a game that could've gone either way.

6. Kentucky

7-1 (5-1)

AP Ranking: 8

I understand people's hesitance to put Kentucky too high in the polls but it is no secret that Will Stein has brought a winning culture and proficient offense to Lexington. Their only loss in a very tough SEC-schedule has come to a great Crimson Tide team and are showing us all that they are no longer just a basketball school.

7. UCLA

8-0 (5-0)

AP Ranking: 5

The other team that seemingly came out of nowhere this season is the UCLA Bruins, who are the final undefeated team in the nation. Behind a very good defense, Running Back Wayne Knight and a favorable schedule, UCLA has been dominating teams but are just about to enter a particularly tough end to their schedule.

8. Texas

6-2 (3-2)

AP Ranking: 10

I think it's wild that Texas is still a Top-10 team with marquee wins and losses on the season and their most underwhelming player may be Arch Manning. He had one of his best games this week against a Mississippi State team that is falling apart but their defense has been the real reason they've remained this high in the rankings.

9. Ole Miss

6-2 (4-2)

AP Ranking: 12

Ole Miss has had a particularly rough schedule this season which ranks 4th in the country for strength of schedule and yet they're still really good. Their defense has only allowed 30+ points once in the past 2 months to the Longhorns and Trinidad Chambliss' season is worthy of being Top-5 in Heisman voting.

10. Ohio State

6-2 (4-1)

AP Ranking: 11

The Buckeye's losing Julian Sayin for an extended period of time definitely hurts them and it showed last week in Southern Cal with their offense just not being able to tke the top off anymore. This is still a wildly good team that can beat teams on any given Saturday but their ability to beat the best and win another Natty definitely fell this week along with their national ranking.

11. BYU

7-1 (4-1)

AP Ranking: 7

BYU is a very good team that obviously had that marquee win against the Irish but the more I watch them the more I realize that this team isn't capable of winning long term while LJ Martin is injured. We will learn A LOT on both sides this week when the Holy War with Utah takes place for the Cougars in a road game.

12. LSU

6-2 (3-2)

AP Ranking: 15

LSU had a BYE this week to get themselves ready for their home game against Bama this week in the biggest matchup for Lane Kiffin's Tigers since their loss in Oxford. They will need to get to Keelon Russell and show their pass rush remains one of the best in the country.

13. Alabama

6-2 (4-2)

AP Ranking: 9

Speaking of Bama, they also had a BYE Week as they get ready to travel to Baton Rouge after getting back on track last week after a 2-game skid. The Crimson Tide need to get their run game back on track for this game after rushing for only 122 yards in their past 2 contests.

14. Texas Tech

7-1 (4-1)

AP Ranking: 13

I still don't really believe in the Red Raiders this season any more than this #14 ranking but they have shown up when it matters most and continue to run up the score in Big 12 matchups.

15. Iowa

6-2 (3-2)

AP Ranking: 21

After losing at Minnesota last week I, along with a lot of people wrote Iowa off a bit but their win vs Wisconsin last week really needs to be given its' flowers. Iowa dominated the line of scrimmage like they do most weeks and while they may not be one of the very best in the nation, they are certainly on pace for a run at the B1G title and a spot in the Playoffs.

16. Missouri

6-2 (3-2)

AP Ranking: 16

The Tigers are in the same pack as the last few teams that they can't really be trsuted against other great teams especially in the SEC but when they're good, they're GREAT!

17. Tennessee

6-2 (3-2)

AP Ranking: 16

Tennessee is in a weird spot because I feel like they've already played their best football which was in their win against Alabama, but besides that haven't shown too much reason to believe they're anything more than a team that will be outside of the CFP deservedly.

18. Houston

5-2 (3-2)

AP Ranking: 17

Houston puts up points week in and week out and has only lost to Texas Tech and Utah, both on the road. Houston had an unfortunate scheduling of 6 road games including against their toughest opponents in the Big 12 but have been great otherwise. Unfortunately for them their losses in the biggest games won't do them any favors besides make them battle-tested.

19. Wake Forest

7-1 (5-1)

AP Ranking: 14

It is getting to the point that even though Wake Forest hasn't really faced anyone this season I can't deny how dominantly they're beating up ACC teams. At this point they will probably have their rematch of their only loss in Miami for an ACC title in Jake Dickert's second year in charge, who is doing a REAMRKABLE job rebuilding this program.

20. Wisconsin

5-3 (3-2)

AP Ranking: NR

I fully understand how bad that game was for Wisconsin in Iowa City, but the fact the AP Poll dropped themc ompletely out of the Top-35 is very telling of how biased and out of reality they are. Wisconsin is still a great team in the trenches with huge wins over USC and Penn State, and a very favorable schedule to end the season.

21. USC

7-2 (4-2)

AP Ranking: 18

Whether or not the Buckeyes were playing without Julian Sayin this week or not, they played a great game and had multiple players show up. They are now 5-1 at home this season and this week's matchip with Indiana will be the culmination of what could either be a HUGE comeback into the Playoffs or possibly a game for Lincoln Riley's job.

22. Boise State

7-1 (4-0)

AP Ranking: 20

The best of "the rest" is definitely Boise State who's only loss came to Oregon at the beginning of the season by only 1 score. Unfortunatlely though, that was the last time they played anyone good too.

23. South Carolina

5-3 (3-3)

AP Ranking: 23

I am happy to see AP also put South Carolina in the rankings even after 3 losses. They have faced 6-straight eranked teams and still have Texas A&M, Georgia and Clemson to go but have been competitive in every game, and most importantly their best players, (Sellers, Stewart and Harbor) are finally living up to their hype.

24. Arizona

6-2 (3-2)

AP Ranking: 24

Arizona is a tricky team but they are wildly competitive and very well-coached in their biggest games of the year which is why I'm keeping them in my Top-25. Like Houston, they've only lost to top tier Big 12 schools on the road and have otherwise been extremely good this season. I do think they rely too much on Noah Fifita throwing the ball 35+ times a game but it does work most of the time.

25. New Mexico

7-1 (4-0)

AP Ranking: 22

The Lobos have been flirting with my Top-25 for three weeks now but their defense has been so good I can't deny them anymore. The only real challenger for Boise State's final Playoff spot this season, the Lobos' defense ranks #1 in points and #5 in yards this season and are one of the best units in the entire country under Head Coach Jason Eck.
