We are three weeks into the NFL season and there have been many surprises. From shocking upsets to unexpected hot streaks, the NFL had everything in Week 3. That includes unexpected fantasy outcomes, leaving some managers looking for answers. Do not fret, here are some waiver wire options that can fill in for an injured player or be the missing piece to your roster. Here is one player per position group you should look out for this week.

Quarterback:

Geno Smith (Las Vegas Raiders) - Yes, it is a common joke that for every touchdown pass Geno Smith throws, he throws an interception. He does have four picks this season, tied-second in the league; however, he had a bounce-back performance against the Commanders.

He threw 19 completions for 289 yards and three touchdowns with no picks or turnovers. It was a bounce-back performance for him after throwing three picks against the Chargers. Now he faces a Chicago Bears defense that is 27th in the league in passing yards allowed. It proves to be a favorable matchup for the Raiders quarterback.

Running Back:

Trey Benson (Arizona Cardinals) - Benson will likely be the most popular pick-up on the waiver wire this week due to James Connor’s season-ending foot surgery, after facing a horrible injury during Sunday’s loss to the 49ers.

The next man up for the Cardinals had a good start to the season. He leads the team with 125 rushing yards on 21 carries and recorded eight catches for 45 yards. Benson’s production should significantly jump with Conner being sidelined for the remainder of the year.

Wide Receiver:

Elic Ayomanor (Tennessee Titans) - The rookie receiver is having a great start to this season, posting 13-point fantasy performances in back-to-back weeks. In each performance, he has found the endzone, making him a reliable target for No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward.

He has yet to have an explosive performance, but his consistency should be taken into account. He could be a great fit for any wide receiver room.

Tight End:

Hunter Henry (New England Patriots) - Hunter Henry has become Drake Maye’s best friend on the Patriots. Whenever Maye needs a guaranteed completion to move the ball forward, he has always relied on his tight end.

Henry can be very boom or bust, but that boom is worth having at the tight end position. On Sunday, he exploded for 29 fantasy points thanks to two touchdown passes from Maye. He currently sits as the third-best tight end in fantasy, with only 22% of managers having him rostered. He could be a valuable asset to your team.

Defense/Special:

Minnesota Vikings D/ST - The Vikings defense put on a show on Sunday, amassing 35 points against the Cincinnati Bengals. This may be a tougher grab to get with the Vikings defense rostered on 40% of teams; however, if they are available, it would be wise to grab them.
