Waiver Wire Week 8

Week 7 had everything and then some. Crazy comebacks, shootout classics, and plenty more. There were a lot of great performances, but here are some names to look out for moving into Week 8.
Quarterback
Jaxson Dart (New York Giants) and Joe Flacco (Cincinnati Bengals)
It is hard to pick between these two quarterbacks after this past Sunday. Jaxson Dart has been on this list a few times and for good reason. He is performing well, going 15 for 33 for 283 yards, four total touchdowns, and an interception. He is also rostered on 48% of rosters, a percentage that is only increasing as the season progresses. If he is available, be sure to pick him up, but if not, a safer option would be Joe Flacco, who had a resurgence as a Bengal against the Steelers. His throwing arm, paired with Ja’Marr Chase, is a deadly combination, as he is rostered on only 3% of teams. He could be a worthwhile investment at the quarterback position.
Running Back
Kyle Monongai (Chicago Bears)
Many were waiting to see when the rookie running back would have his breakout game, and it finally came in Week 7. Monongai racked up 81 yards with his first career touchdown. The Bears are not built to consistently get out to early leads like they did against the Saints, but they do have a favorable matchup against the Ravens next week. The leading back will still likely be D’Andre Swift, but Monongai is starting to close that gap and could be good in a pinch this week.
Wide Receiver
Troy Franklin (Denver Broncos)
When Franklin made that amazing touchdown reception off a deflection against the New York Giants on Sunday to kickstart the Broncos’ miraculous comeback win, he cemented himself as a staple in the Broncos’ offense moving forward. He only had three receptions for 19 yards, but the touchdown lifted his score tremendously. He will likely get more targets from Bo Nix after the win, making him a good option for fantasy managers.
Tight End
Oronde Gadsden II (Los Angeles Chargers)
Gadsden has made history in his first five weeks in the NFL. He has the most receiving yards by an NFL tight end in his first five career games in the Super Bowl Era. He had 164 yards against the Colts this past weekend and is targeted second most in the league the past two weeks behind Trey McBride. Whether he will maintain this consistency going forward remains to be seen, but grabbing him now is not a bad decision.
Defense/Special Teams
Indianapolis Colts
The Titans are the team to target when picking out a defense for the week. If the Colts are available, they should prove to be very effective against a Titans team that has struggled with offense this season. Indianapolis has posted three 13+ point performances this season, too, which leads to a high chance of a boom on the scoresheet.
