Chicago, IL - The Big Ten Conference council of Presidents voted by a 12-2 margin to cancel all fall sports, including football at its member institutions for the remainder of 2020. Nebraska and Iowa were the only schools voting to play. The story which has been confirmed by multiple sources from member schools and conference officials have requested anonymity because a formal announcement from the conference is expected later Tuesday. The cancellation by the Big 10, the first of the Power 5 conferences to make the call, comes just days after the Mid American Conference (MAC) voted to cancel its fall sports season including football which features teams like Miami (OH), Central Michigan, Marshall and more. Despite releasing a 10-game conference schedule just over the weekend, multiple players from Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and more began to opt-out of playing or publicly expressed concerns with the way the pandemic was being handled by the conference. They did not feel safeguards were fully in place. This is a developing story.... #ncaa #bigten #michigan #kwittypaye #ohiostate #michiganstate #football #collegefootball #covid19
