Update (3:30pm ET): The RIIL has informed both the Mount Saint Charles Mounties and the Bishop Hendricken Hawks that they will not extend the season to allow for the State Finals Series to be played. The Mounties and Hawks have been named co-champions for the 2021 season.

After a positive test in the Mount St. Charles team came across, the 2021 RIIL State Finals have been canceled. The Bishop Hendricken Hawks were slated to play Game 1 of the series versus the Mounties tonight at Adelard Arena in Woonsocket, RI.

Hendricken Athletics took to their Instagram to give their thanks and congratulations to the players and in their statement mention works being done between the two sides on an air of "sportsmanship and good will" to build "a charity exhibition game at a later date, to be announced soon, to help raise funds for Bishop Feehan player A.J. Quetta who suffered an injury during a game earlier this season."

This is the 2nd Covid protocol action within the playoffs after Barrington was quarantined and removed, passing Burrillville to the next round, where they were eliminated by the eventual Championship Series participant Hawks.

East Greenwich, due to Covid-19 protocols competed in the playoffs, during the Quarterfinal round, with just 9 players on the bench after a number of their starting lineup had to quarantine.

The 2021 season has been challenging for all sides though many players and coaches around all the divisions say they were happy to have any amount of a season this year.
