While many women's basketball fans may want to dream of Monday and a UConn vs. Notre Dame Regional Final there is still work to be done on the weekend as the Irish will open up the Bridgeport Regional tomorrow morning at 11:30am vs. N.C. State Wolfpack. The UConn Huskies, with the hometown crowd in their pocket will take on the Indiana Hoosiers in Game 2, scheduled for a 2:00pm tipoff. The television broadcast of all games is on the ESPN Networks.

Today gave the opportunity for teams to shake out their legs after travelling and get a feel for the new floor installed into the Total Mortgage Arena, as the Women's Tournament gets to carry the March Madness logos and branding for the first time in tournament history.

SATURDAY:

GAME 1 - NOTRE DAME VS N.C. STATE Notre Dame's run to return to glory falls short as N.C. State mounts a second half comeback that will be the talk of the tournament until Monday. The Wolfpack outscored the Irish 20-10 in the 4th quarter after Notre Dame ran a similar stat on them in the 2nd Quarter. Elissa Cunane and Kai Crutchfield, who may have put herself forward as the unsung hero of the game, gave the Irish fits throughout the late stages. The Wolfpack changed to a marking woman-to-woman defense in the late stages that prevented the Irish from being able to insert the ball to the lane. Forcing outside shots, they were able to use good perimeter defense to force Anaya Peoples and Maddy Westbeld to rush their shots. N.C. State advances to the Elite 8 on Monday night for the first time since 1998. They will face the winner of the UCONN vs. Indiana game set to tip-off in about 20 minutes. GAME 2 - UCONN VS. INDIANA - COMING UP!
