1. Los Angeles Rams

Key to Season: Not underperforming
The Rams added Myles Garrett, Trent McDuffie and Aaron Donald on the defensive end while keeping their offensive talent and adding Kliff Kingsbury as assistant Head Coach for a little extra fire power in the passing game.
They were already one of the favorites before their historic offseason and with the additions especially on defense, they are the clear best team and favorites to win it all this year.

Super Bowl Contenders
2. Buffalo Bills

Super Bowl Odds: +1000
Key to Season: Joe Brady being the difference in the Playoffs
The Bills have the longest active streak of making the Playoffs with 7 years in a row and as long as they have #17 on the field I can't see them missing it. The Bills are going to be headed up without Sean McDermott for the first time in 8 years but Joe Brady is coming from within the organization and is a much better offensive mind.
Without much roster turnover besides adding DJ Moore and losing Taron Johnson, the Bills are poised to make it far again this season but a hunt for the division with the Patriots will make their season feel even more intense which could eb a good thing.

3. Denver Broncos

Key to Season: Getting 1st-round Bye in Playoffs
Sean Payton has improved every season in Denver and coming into year 4 after a 13-4 season in 2025, this looks to be their best season yet. Their defense is among the Top-3 of the league, Bo Nix took a big step up last season and should take another in 2026 thanks to the Broncos bringing Jaylen Waddle.
The AFC is wide open right now and along with the Bills, Ravens and Chiefs, the Broncos should be right there at the end of the season. The Broncos could've made the Super Bowl last year if not for Bo Nix's injury in the Playoffs and if he can stay healthy, the Broncos may be my pick to finally make it this year.

4. Seattle Seahawks

Super Bowl Odds: +1200
Key to Season: Sam Darnold limiting turnovers
A winning defense headed by one of the best young coaches in the NFL with obvious Championship experience. Like most, I'm not huge on Sam Darnold and without Kenneth Walker or even Zach Charbonnet for at least half of the season, this offense will be up in the air.
Still, the Seahawks have tremendous coaching and one of the best Home Field advantages in the league. Their defense is extensive and good all-around and should be #1 against the pas this season with their elite secondary. Even on offense, with playmakers like JSN, rookie Jadarian Price and an offensive line that is consistently getting better should be enough to keep a consistent season even if they don't hit 14 wins again.

5. Baltimore Ravens

Key to Season: Maintain their run game even without Harbaugh and Monken
I came out last week and, for the second year in a row, picked the Ravens to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl and a huge part of that is because I think they could have a Top-3 defense in the AFC. Bringing in Jesse Minter should instantly bring a defensive culture as long as Trey Hendrickson's edge rush coming over from Cincinnati and Malaki Starks taking a huge step in Year 2.
As for Lamar Jackson, everyone is counting this guy out after one, injured season but I am doing the opposite. Jackson's relationship with Zay Flowers is only getting better and even though Andrews and Henry are getting older they're still more than capable of moving the chains while Jackson is counted on to make the home run plays we've seen him do too often.

6. Philadelphia Eagles

Super Bowl Odds: +1700
Key to Season: Offense gets back to 2024 form
The Eagles had a down year in 2025 after their Super Bowl two years ago and even in said "down year" they won 11 games and the NFC East. The defense wasn't much of a problem with their pair of standout DBs Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean revitalizing the group.
Their offense was good but not great thanks to the departure of former OC Kellen Moore to the Saints. Now under their 2nd OC since, the Eagles will also be without AJ Brown on the outside. This team is more than capable of bringing back their dominant, run-heavy offense but it will be all about the playcaller and getting these guys to execute. We've seen it before, so can Sirianni and new OC Sean Mannion bring them back to glory.

7. Detroit Lions

Super Bowl Odds: +1900
Key to Season: DBs step up
The Lions seemingly have gained a ceiling over the past years that they can't break through even though they're still very much one of the best teams in the NFC. With coaches like Aaron Glenn, Ben Johnson, Terrell Williams and Tanner Engstrand leaving over the past two years this team suffered two years of underperforming.
They did lose both Terrion Arnold and David Montgomery but remain one of the most well-rounded rosters in the sport. Jared Goff and Amon-Ra has been the best passing duo in the game for 4 years now and Jahmyr Gibbs may be the best runner. On the other side, Aidan Hutchinson and Jack Campbell were shut down last season and if they can squeeze the most out of their rag-tag group of DBs I can't see how they don't make a run for the NFC Championship.

8. New England Patriots

Super Bowl Odds: +1800
Key to Season: Find a pass rush
The shocking Super Bowl run in 2025 for the Patriots doesn't automatically make them a Top-2 team this year but it certainly means that should be their goal. The Patriots instantly found their identity with Drake Maye throwing the ball deep and Mike Vrabel whipping this defense into a stingy, work-first group but I still have serious questions.
The matter of strength of schedule is real and now that their 2026 schedule should be one of the hardest in the league we'll see if they really are frauds. Bringing in AJ Brown should give Drake Maye the ability to repeat his MVP-form season from last year along with Tre Henderson coming into Year 2. The Christian Gonzalez-saga may hurt the team's secondary and as far as this group of Super Bowl contenders go, they have the worst pass rush.
Still, I'll take an elite QB-HC duo over almost anything and while I wouldn't say they're elite after only one season, Maye and Vrabel are definitely knocking on that door.

9. Kansas City Chiefs

Key to Season: Mansoor Delane stepping up in rookie season
Is it possible that the most unpredictable position group for the Chiefs this year is Quarterback? Pat Mahomes has been good-not-great for the past 3 seasons and that was before tearing his ACL and LCL midway through last season. The Chiefs seem to have built a better roster over the past two seasons on offense but it's been at the expense of losing players like Trent McDuffie.
Rookie CB Mansoor Delane will be key in how this Secondary plays all year but their Front-7 should be at least top half of the league again. Truthfully, this team will get as far as Mahomes can take them which I would feel less good about than ever before if I was a Chiefs' fan.

10. Chicago Bears

Super Bowl Odds: +2400
Key to Season: Caleb Williams taking the next step
This kind of feels like the Bears' year after winning the NFC North last season and through some of the remarks Ben Johnson's made this season. Caleb Williams should be breaking out and in the conversation for Top-5 QB anytime now with the masterful offensive mind of Ben Johnson behind him and the front office may be taking their time in rebuilding their defense but it definitely looks better than last year.
We saw the Bears win their division almost by default last year in a weak year for the North but that will be much harder with the Lions and Packers expected to be better as well. The Bears' potential is why they're looked so fondly on and that starts and ends with Johnson and Williams. If they take the step we think they should, we could even see Chicago flirt with their first NFC Championship appearance in over 15 years.

11. Cincinnati Bengals

Key to Season: Keep Burrow healthy
It's all about keeping Burrow healthy. If Joe Burrow plays every game this season the Bengals are easily one of the best teams in the AFC with their dynamic offensive playmakers but also because the front office has done a tremendous job of rebuilding the roster.
The Bengals no longer have a weak O-line or one of the worst defenses in the league. Through the draft and knowing when to splurge in Free Agency, the Bengals now have a ridiculous Front-7 and an O-line specifically built around keeping Burrow standing, in the pocket. This roster on paper would probably rank #6 on the list but if Burrow gets injured they're closer to #16 so I split the difference until they prove otherwise.

12. Houston Texans

Super Bowl Odds: +1800
Key to Season: Squeeze the most out of Stroud
The Texans have the opposite problem of the Bengals, they need the roster around him to help carry their Quarterback to the Playoffs. I'm not saying that CJ Stroud can't go out there and win games for Houston but I am saying that this should be his last year to prove that he can before the Texans sign him to an extension.
The offense in general is definitely below average for the league even with the addition of David Montgomery. Their offensive line and receiver room behind Nico Collins is all unproven but young with potential. If the offense can hold their weight, not turn the ball over and drive down the field they'll be fine this season, because even on their worst days Demeco Ryans' defense is Top-3 in the league and that's not changing anytime soon.

Missing a Certain Something
13. Los Angeles Chargers

Key to Season: Keep O-line on the field
The Chargers were the most injured team in the league last season and still won 11 games last season thanks to an elite defense and Justin Hebert doing Justin Herbert-things. Going into this season, the Chargers won't have their prized-DC Jesse Minter anymore but they did go out in the offseason and get some depth on their O-line.
Here's the thing, the Chargers defense was so good that even when Herbert was running for his life they were competitive. Now that their defense might take a step down I do think Herbert will have one of his best seasons of his career. He is a special talent at QB and this roster is well done under a great coach like Jim Harbaugh, but they won't be able to hide behind a brilliant defense anymore especially in the tough AFC West.

14. Green Bay Packers

Key to Season: Finding Superstars
I have been searching and searching for the specific thing that the Packers are "missing" and I think the words I'm looking for is difference-makers. Micah Parsons is certainly in that category but he'll miss at least the first 4 games. Jordan Love has seemed to be on that cusp for a few years now but hasn't quite taken that step yet.
The Packers are just solid everywhere and that will get them to at least 9 wins this season. They are in the very competitive NFC North and play the Bears, Texand and Lions in the last 3 weeks of the season so they WILL need their players to step up especially late. This needs to be the year Love becomes elite for Packers fan, if he can and elevate the play of people like Kraft, Golden and Watson then these guys could make a run, especially if Micah Parsons is all over the field like he was last year before the injury.

15. Dallas Cowboys

Key to Season: Remeber how to win
There's a lot to be said about improving on their defense from last year which ranked dead last in points and passing yards per game but I think their offseason moves will greatly improve that. Instead, I want to emphasize something that has been missing for the Cowboys for decades; a winning culture.
I like Brian Schottenheimer as a Coach and he knows how to run an offense. An offense that has all the potential to be the best through the air this season with Dak, Lamb, Pickens, Ferguson and a very good O-line. He needs to more than just put a prolific offense out there in Week 2, he needs to change the culture and remind these guys of what the Cowboys used to mean to the league.
I also REALLY love their rookie Safety Caleb Downs. I know this is high praise but I seriously believe he could be a game changer for them right off the bat.

16. San Francisco 49ers

Key to Season: Staying healthy
The 49ers have so many players that we'd consider injury-prone or unlikely to play the full season it's not even funny. On paper if they were all healthy, this is easily a Top-10 roster and maybe better but their track record over the past few years means they should see at least 3 star players go down somehwere in the season.
McCaffrey, Evans, Bosa, Warner, Williams, Samuel and Kittle all missed multiple games the past two seasons and some have already shown lingering injuries to start this year. Not to mention the fact that they are in the best division in football with two of the Top-3 teams on this list making up 4 games of their schedule this season.

17. Jacksonville Jaguars

Super Bowl Odds: +3000
Key to Season: Trevor Lawrence having another MVP-shortlist season
The Jaguars seemingly, finally made the step we've been waiting for both on offense and defense. Trevor Lawrence having a Top-5 MVP season last year conincided with Liam Coen's first year on the job as the Jaguars finished the year Top-10 in yards and points per game. Their defense looked great too at times with players like Oluokun and Hines-Allen controlling the edge and the middle of the field like we'd never from them before.
Here's the bad news, the Jaguars had to let both Travis Etienne and Devin Lloyd go in Free Agency and who were their biggest playmnakers on both sides of the ball from last season. The Jags certainly have guys that could step up and help bridge that void but I don't think even another elite season from Lawrence can make up for what his contract is doing to this team financially.

18. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Super Bowl Odds: +5500
Key to Season: Win now before contracts start expiring
The NFL is always unpredicatble and things can go haywire at any time but I truly believe this is the last year in the Buccaneers' Super Bowl window. Their team's not elite but they still have the goods to get it done if a laundry list of things go there way like Mayfield and Egbuka's aerial attack and Todd Bowles' defense getting even better with rookie Rueben Bain who should be a game changer from Week 1.
Looming contracts of guys like Mayfield and Vita Vea putting their future in jeopardy, Bowles needs to use all of his genius on defense to finally bring this team to it's potential, and Mayfield needs to get back to his early-2025 season form if they want a shot at the Playoffs much less a Super Bowl.

19. New York Giants

Super Bowl Odds: +7000
Key to Season: The Harbaugh effect
I'm very confident in saying that the New York Giants will compete for an NFC Championship in the next three years. While I'd say their Super Bowl window is officially open this year, they're just too young and inexperienced on offesne to get it done even though I really believe they'll compete for the NFC East and probably make the playoffs.
Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo are so fun to watch and dynamic enough to excel in John Harbaugh's first year as the Giants' head coach but their possibility of getting injured looms. Besides that, they have playmakers all over the offense, a very young and hungry O-line and a Secondary that is full of breakout candidates, ball hawks and surprisingly deep. This team probably has the largest range for their win total this year but I think Harbaugh will come out of the gates swinging in 2026.

Just... There
20. Indianapolis Colts

Super Bowl Odds: +6000
Key to Season: Jonathan Taylor
I don't think we'll see the Daniel Jones-led Colts from the first half of the 2025 season especially with a questionable wide receiver room but as long as they lean on JT and their offensive line they should have a good enough offense to win some games.
Their defense should be also... good enough. They have someintriguing youth in their Front-7 with Latu and Tuimoloau on the Edge and rookie LB CJ Allen likely to be the Mike all year. Sauce Gardner has a lot of question marks going into the season but surrounded by Charvarious Ward and Cam Bynum should relieve the pressure he had to carry the Jets' secondary from years past. Plus their division is totally winnable with neither the Texans or Jaguars set to run away with it this year.
Still, even as a die hard Colts fan myself, this team seems destined to be fine and win 7-9 games again this year.

21. Carolina Panthers

Super Bowl Odds: +9000
Key to Season: Bryce Young continuing to get better
It was good for Panthers fans to see Bryce Young prove he can make it in the league as a starting QB even if he wasn't exactly exceptional. Most of that came down to adding a stud like Tet McMillan and a ridiculous stretch of games from Rico Dowdle but even still, the Panthers offense looked better.
The Panthers even went out and added two premier Linebackers in Lloyd and Phillips which was their weakness from last year in what was already a defense ranking about the middle of the league. The defense should improve slightly with a Top-10 ranking possibly in their future so it will really come down to the offense.
Can Bryce Young take another step and firmly cement himself as a good QB in the league? The jury's still out.

22. Pittsburgh Steelers

Super Bowl Odds: +5000
Key to Season: Don't change the system
I know it can be easy for a team to move on from their historic and long term Head Caoch and want to change everything to "finally get over the hump" but the truth is, this roster is still built around what Pittsburgh football and Mike Tomlin are all about. If McCarthy comes in and tries to bring back a Green Bay or Dallas-offense and play high risk-high reward football, this team will finish under .500 for the first time in 23 seasons.
Aaron Rodgers is still good but is obviously 42 now and he may have plenty of weapons on offense but they have zero number one-type of playmakers. On defense, Watt, Heyward, Ramsey and Queen will make sure this team competes for another Top-10 defense, (if they can all stay healthy).
This is a boring entry but that's kinid of what the Steelers have been lately. Play tough football, focus on defense and the trenches and don't try to do too much in McCarthy's first year.

23. Washington Commanders

Super Bowl Odds: +6000
Key to Season: Dan Quinn to remember he's a defensive coach.
The Commanders have lost almost ALL momentum they had going into last season with Jayden Daniels questionable potential after his injuries and pass game guru Kliff Kingsbury moving on. Dan Quinn should be able to put together a good defense in his sleep but his group ranked 1st and 5th in yards and points per game last season. Add to that, their star LT Laremy Tunsil is already out for the season.
So why aren't they lower, well because if he does come back like he did in 2024, Jayden Daniels can and will carry this team. Adding Stefon Diggs, Chig Okonkwo and Rachaad White was scarily underrated this year and really gives Daniels the most weapons he's had in the NFL. Now all the Commanders need is for Quinn to remember they brought him in to have a great defense and this team should be able to get back to being competitive.
Another terrific draft pick was Sonny Styles to the Commanders. Could very easily be Quinn's next Bobby Wagner.

24. Minnesota Vikings

Key to Season: Can O'Connell do it again?
We've seen Kevin O'Connell get the best out of Kirk Cousins, Sam Darnold, and even be a turning point in Daniel Jones' career. Now, Kyler Murray is the new kid in town and I really think everything's pointing to him AT LEAST earning a Comeback player of the Year award if not bringing his team to the Playoffs.
Two major things are in the Vikings way: Their division and their Secondary. First, their Secondary was good last year because Brian Flores is an amazing defensive mind but they need better athletes than Charles Demmings and James Pierre. Secondly, trying to make the Playoffs when you have 6 games against the Packers, Lions and Bears is incredibly tough no matter how good Kyler Murray and Justin Jefferson will be this year.

25. New Orleans Saints

Super Bowl Odds: +9000
Key to Season: Offense carrying the defense
The Saints are a definite dark horse to win the NFC South this year but it will rely heavily on their 2nd year QB Tyler Shough. Kellen Moore has shown us that his offensive prowess could make a guy like Shough and the team does have a lot of options for him to throw to, (even if Tyson and Kamara are injury-prone).
Their defense definitely still needs some work though. An above average Secondary won't make up for a poor Front-7 with a 37-year old and possibly injured Cameron jordan being it's premier player. If Shough can "show out" this year, this team will have a great chance to win their division or at least 8 games this year but if he's not ready to win some shoot outs, this defense will lose them a lot more games than they win.

Focusing on Rebuild
26. Tennessee Titans

Super Bowl Odds: +13000
Key to Season: Cam Ward to take THAT step
The Titans got their QB, got him a #1 receiever and also got a Head Coach should revitalize their defense so the excuses should come to an end. In Cam Ward's second season he will have a much bettter receiving core and coaching staff around him, (including Brian Daboll as OC) but will also have an O-line that probably ranks among the worst in the league. We will find out this year if he deserved that #1 pick or if Robert Saleh will need to consider all options moving forward.
With Saleh at the helm this defense will be better than the bottom-5 in points they were last season, with a much better pass rush and a Secondary that has some breakout candidates in it. Their division definitely gives them some winnable games this season and in fact they have the 8th easiest schedule in the league. Everything is set up for Ward and the Titans to put their stamp on the league this year but I don't know... maybe next year?

27. Las Vegas Raiders

Super Bowl Odds: +15000
Key to Season: Continue the rebuild, it's working
The Raiders have drafted their Franchise QB, star Running Back and best playmaker on offense in three straight years along with a shiny new Head Coach in Klint Kubiak from the Champion Seahawks so they have their rebuild firmly chugging along on the tracks. With Mendoza likely to not hit the field till midseason if at all and Jeanty already dealing with an injury, it's not going to go too far this year but they have been planning for 2028 for a while now.
They still have Maxx Crosby after his weird trade scenario happened this offseason and a surprisingly decent Secondary as well. They won't win too many games this year especailly in the toughest division in the AFC but as long as they stay cohesive and rememebr the long-term goal this season won't be a failure even if they only win 4-6 games this year.

28. Atlanta Falcons

Super Bowl Odds: +13000
Key to Season: One of their Quarterbacks to be at least decent
The Falcons are the furthest team down on this list that still have a feasible chance to win their division. The NFC South is WIDE OPEN this year and the Falcons have a decent roster on paper with Kevin Stefanski newly in the Head Coaching role. Stefanski will have to work his magic like never before though because the Falcons lost both of their top Edge Rushers, (Pearce Jr only for 8 games) and both Tua and Penix seem lost in pre season and behind schedule in their rehab respectively.
There are a lot of things to like about this team with Stefanski probably being the most likable, but QB and rushing the QB are the two most important things in football and both of those are huge question marks on your team, it's hard for me to be optimistic.

29. Arizona Cardinals

Key to Season:
The Cardinals roster at least potentially is a lot better than they get credit for but their schedule is just brutal. The Cardinals showed their defense has some future and current Pro Bowlers like Nolen, Johnson, Baker and Sweat but their offense is so up in the air and I have no idea why.
Does Brissett have another good season in him or will he revert to the backup we knew him to be once. Can Jeremiyah Love be successful straight away even on this team behind that O-line? And for goodness sake, can Marvin Harrison Jr FINALLY reach his potential? We'll have to wait and see. I think this team is capabale especially if they play to their potential but even if they do, that schedule means they win at most 5 games this season and that just... sucks.

30. New York Jets

Super Bowl Odds: +20000
Key to Season: Get Ready for... Arch?
There is a world where the Jets can actually do well this season. With a burgeoning offensive line, decent playmakers including 4-year veterans and a stable of talented rookies, and several playmakers on defense like rookie DE David Bailey, Captain MLB Demario Davis and Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.
But then again... they're the Jets. More so, I'm not sure Aaron Glenn is the right guy for this job and should be very much on the hot seat all season. They also have Geno Smith starting at QB after a woeful season in Vegas last year so this season screams, "Let's get the young guys some snaps so they're ready for next season's rookie Quarterback to take over." And with theirs, along with Dallas and Indy's 1st round picks, that is exactly what should happen.
Don't be surprised if both New York teams make the 2028 playoffs.

31. Cleveland Browns

Key to Season: Get Deshaun out of there
On paper, the Browns have a bad roster but not one I'd say belongs at #31 and their hiring of Todd Monken as Head Coach means I like their running game and Quinshon Judkins a lot this year. Here's the thing, this offseason they traded away the best player in the league and named Deshaun Watson their starting QB and I can't think of a team that's made two worse offseason moves in my lifetime.
The only reason I can think of for the Browns to be starting Watson over potential-filled Shedeur Sanders or even Dillon Gabriel is because they feel they hav to because of his contract and that is negligible on their part. The quicker they give up on him and start planning for their future instead of what... trying to win 6 or 7 games this season for some reason? The better they'll be.

Key to Season: Giving snaps to the young guys
I can see what Jeff Hafley is going to be working on in his foirst season in charge of the Dolphins but I think we'd all agree he's at least 2 years away from putting a capble team on the field. The Dolphins will probably field the worst receiving core I've ever seen to start the season and a defense that under Hafley could find some stars along the way, but on paper is one of the worst in the league right now.
The Dolphins should absolutely be looking to get one of the Top-3 picks which will land them a premier Quarterback to build around. Along with a shiny new and young Quarterback, this team will still have a lot of young players with the youngest average age roster at 25.3 years old. Evident by their placement, this season and whatever comes after it won't be easy for Hafley, but it's not impossible.
