RI native Kolek has 13 points for George Mason in losing effort against the Rams

Tyler Kolek from Cumberland, RI puts up 13 points for George Mason in their 80-60 loss to Rhode Island.


Kolek, a Cumberland, RI native, played his high school ball at prestigous St George's School in Newport, RI. He was the 2020 NEPSAC Class B player of the year leading St George's School to a 23-4 record and an independent School League (ISL) title.


Kolek led St George's to a semifinals birth in NEPSAC Class B and had 39 points in the losing effort for the Dragons. Kolek also grabbed 2019 Gatorade Player of the Year in RI. In the ISL Kolek was two-time ISL player of the Year and an All-ISL selection. These accomplishments gave Kolek the No. 14 rank in all New England which eventually led to his NLI signing with the George Mason Patriots.


Now Kolek returned home to play the Rams in his native state of Rhode Island on Saturday. Kolek was the Patriots #2 producer in the their losing effort posting 13 points on 5-14 from the floor. Kolek was also 3-10 from three point land with four rebounds and 2 assits.
