High School sports are special. They bring students together to fight for one goal of bringing home a title. Going out there every day with your brothers and sisters is something high schoolers cherish for a lifetime.
High School sports have had a major impact on Cranston East’s star pitcher Chris Torres. "To me high school sports brings everyone together and has brought me so many new friendships and brothers that I will always remember, the rush of playing in front of your classmates family friends while representing your school is amazing and I love every single bit of it, certainly something I’ll forever remember." Torres will be playing D3 baseball at Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, MA this upcoming Fall 2021 semester.
I was able to chat with Cranston East's LSM Owen Jones. Owen has been on varsity at Cranston East since his freshman year and is very passionate about sports. "High school sports are so important because it gives students the chance to figure out what kind of athlete they really are in an environment where everyone only wants to see you improve your skill."
Being able to play sports in high school is such a special opportunity. COVID-19 is preventing student-athletes from making these memories and meeting new people that are more than just teammates. They are family.
