Game Preview
While College Gameday will be in Nashville for the Missouri@Vandy game, the real showdown will be between Ole Miss and Oklahoma.
Both teams have lost and fell down the polls in the last two weeks which means the loser of this game will have a LONG way to go to make it to the CFB Playoffs at the end of the season.
With both teams being 6-1 at this point in the season, Oklahoma will be the favorites in this game having one of if not the best defenses in the country and also being at home where they are 4-0 on the season.
On the opposite end, the Rebels are 1-1 on the road after just losing to Georgia last week.
Ole Miss

For the Rebels, their loss last week was the first hiccup in their otherwise perfect season. Down in Georgia, the Bulldogs inched out a 43-35 win after a 17-0 4th Quarter.
The Rebels let the Bulldogs win the game and will be looking for vengeance this week. In their second road game in a row in a incredibly tough environment, the Rebels know if they play in Norman the way they played for the first 3 Quarters in Sanford, they can win.
Having beaten some very good teams this year like LSU, Tulane, Arkansas and at Kentucky, the Rebels are now 1-1 when facing Top-5 teams after beating LSU at home and Georgia on the road. Travelling to Oklahoma is a daunting task for any team but is clearly a task the Rebels are ready for.
Trinidad Chambliss has started the last 5 games after being the backup for the first 2 and has been electric. 13 TDs and 1 interception has made him the center of this offense that ranks 16th in points scored per game with 37.4. Chambliss' Running Back Kewan Lacy has also been on fire totaling 10 TDs on the year.
Oklahoma

For Oklahoma, they may have one of the best defenses in the SEC but their entire team gravitates around QB John Mateer. After the well-documented comeback from his Thumb injury that turned into a terrible game at DR Memorial Stadium vs the Longhorns, Mateer had a better, (but still not great) game in a dominant win in a road game against South Carolina.
Three weeks on from being under the needle, Mateer will have as good of a test as he has all year when the Ole Miss Rebels come to town. Ole Miss may rank towards the bottom of the nation for rush yards but their pass defense has been outstanding especially considering the teams they've faced.
Oklahoma is no slouch on defense either in fact, a good amount of people will claim they have the BEST defense in all of college football. Ranking 1st in yards against and 2nd in points allowed, the Sooners have only allowed 20 points once and it was their loss to Texas, and a huge part in the Sooners giving up 23 was Mateer's 3 interceptions.
Mateer's main weapons are a talented Running Back and a pair of Wide Receivers that should hear their names being called in April pretty early. Deion Burks and Isaiaha Sategna have been dynamic all year and combine for averages of 10 catches and over 140 yards and just under 1 TD per game. If the Sooners want to win, they'll have to get these guys going early.
My Predictions
Last week I went 1-1 again in my picks for the Washington at Michigan Game I highlighted for last week's Game of the Week. I picked Washington Money Line which WASN'T the case but I also took the Under/51.5.
For this week, the lines are Oklahoma -5.5 and the Over/Under is Set at 53.5 points.
With the Sooners' defense being so surreal this year and John Mateer looking better each week, I have to go with the Sooners ML but I will sprinkle on Ole Miss +5.5/. As far as the Over/Under goes, I will be taking Under 51.5 points. I believe the Sooners hold the Rebels to 20 or less points and they play smart and safe football in the 4th to score somewhere around 27 themselves.
